Service is good. Rooms (business) need some attention and care. Housekeeping (cleaning of the room) was below expectation. Restaurant was very good but expensive.

Hotel Maritim in Haugesund might be a very nice hotel – or a very disappointing one, be sure to get the right room!
Double rooms overlooking the waterfront and with balconies – nice rooms! Single rooms at the back looked like a dump – after staying twice in a double room, I was shocked of the worn out feeling of the single rooms, and the view – really depressing!! Asked to be rebooked to a double room and paid the extra money for it.
Double room has good beds with good sleeping comfort. But even these “good rooms” are starting to look a bit tired. And the cleaning is lacking attention. As the pictures shows, there are lots of dust and I do not know what is living in the little gap …. Maybe a big fat spider? And when opening the cupboard an empty bottle of cognac fell out, it was put behind the extra pillow....
The breakfast is very good! Lots of options and healthy ones too.
If you make sure you get the right room, and the hotel make sure they clean it properly – this is a nice hotel with a good location.

My hotel when I'm staying in Haugesund, but it is popular hotel, so don't expect to get a room if you book a week before traveling.
Yes they have smoking rooms, very nice breakfast (Rica quality )
pay for a spurior room, and you will get the little extra for the stay regaring room view and location.
PS: Some of the smoking rooms has not been cleaned for a while.

The location of this hotel couldn't be better, snuggled nicely against the waterfront. There are some very innovative designs that maximise the use of light and water. I had the impression though, that the staff are struggling - either they are under resourced or working inefficiently, or both. My room was very small - in fact there was nowhere to put my large case so it had to be squeezed onto a chair. The balcony was ok, small but practical. However, this was Haugesund in October so not having an interest in gale force wind and horizontal rain, I didn't venture out. My key card didn't work on the second day so I had to traipse back to reception, only to be told that I must have had it near a mobile 'phone. I had not, but don't you just love to be told that a hotel inadequacy is your fault?! I only ate in the restaurant at lunch time - it was incredibly busy and one had to wait for food replenishment at the buffet. All in all, a very average experience.
