We were flying to Kuusamo and missed the connection due to a flight delay. Finn Air put us up at the Rantasipi Airport hotel for the night. It was a wonderful evening, the hotel is clean and comfortable. There are many facilities for business customers, and the reception staff are very helpful. There is a free airport transfer bus to and from Helsinki airport.
The hotel is not at the airport, so there was no disturbance from air traffic, and a good nights sleep was had. It is not in the centre of Helsinki, so not ideal if you are wanting to explore the city, you will need transport to get you to the centre.
The rooms all have twin beds, there are no doubles. The hotel was warm and the room very spacious, with a generous seating area. The bathroom was compact but comfortable, and despite a few minor cosmetic issues was very nicely decorated.
There is a restaurant with a nice menu. There is only one option for vegetarians (mushroom pasta) which was absolutely delicious. We were given a set menu due to the airline paying, which did not include a vegetarian option, but they provided me with the pasta option from their main menu.
Breakfast was delcious and ample. It was a self-service buffet with everything from cereals, fruits, cheeses, meats, breads, pastries, meatballs, eggs etc. There was a very impressive selection. They also catered for gluten-free diets including a seperate toaster for gluten-free bread.
I do not know how much the rooms cost for a night, but for an unexpected delay in Helsinki, we were delighted with the accommodation and food provided to us. I would recommend it to anyone needing an overnight stop near the airport.
