We (a family of 4 adults and a 12 year old) stayed here as an overnight stop. We had flown from Heathrow to Helsinki and were flying on to Kuusamo the next day. We had 2 rooms.
The hotel is easy to get to using the local bus service number 61 which can be caught from either of the two airport terminals. Make sure you do not catch 61V though as this does not go to the hotel.
The rooms are comfortable and modern and had a reasonable amount of space in them - even when a 3rd bed was folded down from the wall in the family room. The only thing missing from them was tea/coffee making facilities.
Don't expect stunning views across open countryside as Vantaa is a urbanised area - but not bad with that in mind (plus snow makes all things look nice!).
The hotel is part of the Flamingo entertainment complex (complete with bowling, restaurants and swimming pool) which is also attached to the Jumbo shopping complex. These centres gave us somewhere to look around and were effective in helping us to spend our time without having to venture far afield.
We ate in the restaurant opposite the hotel's reception, Amarillo, and had a lovely meal before retiring to our rooms.
The breakfast, which was included in the price, was great and offered a lovely range of cooked and cold options. It really catered for all (our group included a veggie and a child!). Some of the tables were long so in busier periods you will end up sharing but that is no hardship. When we were there it was quiet so we had no such issues though and found the room quite pleasant contrary to other reviews on this site.
In addition, the hotel offers free wi-fi access.
We would have no hesitation in having an overnight stop again to break up our outward journey (and extend our holiday by a day!) and would happy return to the Sokos Hotel Flamingo.
