Munkebjerg is located on the outskirrts of Vejle city , some 80km south of Aarhus,(Denmarks second largest city)
Their rooms are amazingly clean and reasonably a spacious . There is a washing machine and dryer available in the common "laundry room" on the second floor, where guests staying for longer periods can do their laundry themselves. There are incredibly many rooms, thus the facility can house hundreds of guests (eg conventions, conferences, congress meetings, wedding parties, confirmation parties, baptism parties, etc ) at the same time.

There is so much joy in the tranquil nature around Munkebjerg. From the restaurant window, one overlooks the fjord which is an amazing scene in itself. The environment is green and calm being on the outskirts of a small city.

The hotel is a little out of the way but was in a very nice setting within woods. the hotel rooms were very clean and modern. the view from the restaurant overlooking the sea was really something. The rooms are not overly expensive. The staff, as always in Denmark, are very friendly and helpful.

The restaurant was expensive but the quality of the food was exceptional. it's definately worth a try.

Have stayed at many of the hotels in and nearby Vejle and must conclude the best hotel is MUNKEBJERG.

Really nice breakfast buffet! Only negative remark is that Munkebjerg Hotel in the outskirts of Vejle. So if you are looking for a hotel in the center of Vejle the Monkey will not cut it. I would guess Munkebjerg is about 20 km from Vejle center. If central Vejle is a prerequisite your choose, in my opinion, should be Hotel Jacob Gade.

We booked the Munkebjerg Hotel, Vejle for two nights as a base for visiting Legoland in Billund, Denmark. Billund is about 20 miles away from Vejle (if, like me, your Danish isn't too good, Vejle is pronounce Vile-uh). The overall appearance of the hotel is that it is a bit dated, a bit 1980-ish, with quite a dark reception area. The check staff were efficient, if not overly friendly. Our room itself continued the slightly dated look. However the bathroom (although there was no bath) was modern with a large glass fronted shower. Or room rate included both a buffet breakfast and buffet dinner. Both of these were OK with a good choice of food - just don't expect top restaurant quality. Also, don't sit at a window table - there are too many flies about. The hotel has a pool. This, in keeping with the rest of the hotel, is also a bit dark and the water was quite cold.
Overall, I could put up with staying here if ever intending to visit Legoland again, but I wouldn't really look forward to it.
