The hotel is very centrally located and Denmark being Denmark, the price is not so bad even if its not great. Its modern and well presented on the outside as well as very easy to find.
On arrival we were a bit surprised that the car park is very small but a colleague noticed there was a parking house nearby too (we were not sure if that was also the hotel's). Parking in the smaller car park was free for guests but you need to get a pass at the reception.
A speedy check-in and friendly service on the reception and I was soon on the way to my room. I also picked up an internet password before going up, the wireless internet is included in the price. The reception staff in general were very helpful during the stay.
My room had a nice view (see pictures) and the initial impressions were good. There was air conditioning and the window could also be opened, which is not always the case in some newer hotels. Furniture was in a good condition and the room felt clean, modern and fresh.
Later however, after coming back from a meal in the restaurant I noticed a less than clean smell from the bathroom, the shower drain was the cause. Running the shower for a minute or two solved the problem but I really would have expected that the drain would be cleaned a bit more regularly to avoid that. As it had got a bit darker I thought I would put some more lights on but of the 4 lamps (a desk lamp, a standing lamp and two table lamps) only one actually worked. As the room was getting a bit warm I also wanted to turn the air conditioning down but the dial to control the temperature (see picture) was missing. I managed to get the temperature down with the top of one of my pens but a proper controller would have made the job much simpler.
I ate in the hotel's restaurant and although the food was good the place itself with its very white walls and bright lights really lacked the atmosphere you would expect a restaurant to have. The solid wall right in front of the door as you come in to the restaurant really added to the feeling that the restaurant was added to the hotel later as if they forgot to include it in the original plans. The menu was very limited but the chef did cater for special diets by cooking items that were not on the menu which for Denmark is a big plus.
I slept well without any disturbances and the next morning breakfast was a good and standard, completely self service buffet with a wide range of hot and cold items as you would expect.
If you are planning to see anything of Vejle in the evening make sure you go out early. I was there on a weekday night and after 20:00 everything was closed. For shops, the railway station which is a short walk from the hotel had a 7 Eleven which was still open and there were one or two fast food places open as well as an Italian restaurant very close to the hotel. Otherwise though cafés etc were all closed.
Room Tip: Family rooms are a decent size, don't be put off if this is all the hotel has as the extra beds...
