First the good:
* When approached the staff were very helpful
* While not in the centre of the town the hotel is set in very nice grounds
* The beds were comfortable
* The rooms were clean
* Breakfast was more than adequate (though if staying for longer than a couple of days a bit repetitious)

Now the rest:
* The rooms were not always serviced and when they were it was not uniform (ie all towels not regularly replaced, nor beds made);
* Rooms did not have tea/coffee making facilities or telephones (as advertised)
* The shower stall leaked
* The mini bar in our room needed to be defrosted and in a friends room there was no key to the mini bar
* The whole hotel desperately need an overhaul and repainting
* Windows need screens to stop mosquitos
* While the tariff includes breakfast there are no other meals available from the hotel.

Impala used years ago to be the best hotel in Silkeborg – no more! Today it's a breakfast only hotel or Motel and we were disappointed. Our room was motel like with door directly to parking area, and the room was in urgent need of renovation. Night-stand beside the bed had fallen to the floor, light bulbs needed to be replaced, bed’s were old and two narrow single beds and furniture looked like from the 70’s – we were glad it was 2 nights only. Breakfast room was a conference room where there was a small buffet and then conference tables to eat at. Staff was friendly and forthcoming, but it couldn’t make up for the other impressions we had

This hotel is rather functional - it won't win any awards for architecture but the rooms are fine for the price. I had a small room on the top floor first but it was very warm and stuffy - it's really the attic. I moved to a different room which was much nicer. It was bigger, had its own litte terrace and separate seating area. (The weather was quite humid.) Each room had 2 single beds which were comfortable.

The staff were very good - they ordered a takeout pizza for me one night and when it arrived, the receptionist took it to my room - up 2 flights of stairs. Breakfast was fine - the usual ham, cheese, juices, etc. You just help yourself.

The hotel is set into a hill overlooking the lake. It's a short walk into town through a park in the river. There are a lot of stairs and no lift. It has wireless internet access but you have to buy a token to access it at the reception. I'd prefer to stay at the Radisson because it's more central but if you're on a budget this is a fine hotel. (Much better than the Dania)
