Abbaye very central and reasonable condition of room (some cobwebs on ceiling and carpet not spotless) with good bathroom and separate WC, although not brilliant VFM. Welcome OK but not friendly. Rooms are a sideline for the museum and are off the public areas which is a bit strange. Breakfast at 11 Euros very poor VFM.

We picked this hotel based on the description of the property as a converted Abbey. The hotel was very picturesque, and did not disappoint. The only problem is that Pont a Mousson is half way between Metz and Nancy, and we would have preferred staying in either city over this out of the way place. Unfortunately it rained every night during our drive back to the hotel from the city, which did not make for easy driving (thank god for the gps). If i was to return to the area, I would probably stay in Metz, which is an incredibly beautiful old city with a lively feel to it, the second largest cathedral in France, and a very architecturally diverse city center. Hotel Abbaye de Prmontres is very interesting, I'm glad for the chance to have stayed in an Abbey, and it is a nice quiet spot in the country, if that is what you're looking for. Breakfast was barely adequate, and parking was on street, across from the hotel. I would recommend if you have the time, and are looking for a diversion from the typical city hotel. We stayed in a converted insane asylum in Slego Ireland, so we enjoy traveling slightly off the mainstream.

The hotel is attached to an historic building a couple of hundred yards from the centre of Pont a Mousson. The twin bedded room was very clean and had a small kitchen area (sink and hotplates) in one corner. Unfortunately there was no chance to use the facilities even to make a cup of tea. No pots, pans or kettle.
Parking was close and convenient.
The hotel did not provide food in the evening. The staff kindly recommended places to eat. We chose a restaurant in the town square called Pierre Bonadventure. The food was truely fabulous and the place was full soon after opening for the evening. However we found the service to be poor. Our waitress was unhappy with our awkward pronunciation of french words.
The hotel provided breakfast in an enormous refectory. We felt there was little choice. Some cheese, croissants and bread. The pastries and bread tasted somewhat stale.
The best part of our stay was the beautiful views from the bridge near the hotel. However we were not impressed with the grimy town square,
