There are times when a hotel surprises you. This one is is a typical one-nighter, used as convenient bed when on a long journey, as we were. Located near a main road on a piece of land that looked suspiciously like a vacant industrial plot it was clean and had all the usual facilities: restaurant, rooms and an accommodating staff. The room was pretty spartan (bed, wardrobe, bathroom, TV) but was sufficient for our (limited) needs. Given that it's a 2H hotel I don't think that you could expect more. As it is only a 2H we didn't expect more. As it was a bit outside Limoges and we didn't relish the idea of driving into the city (having just driven some 479 miles) we elected to use the hotel's restaurant, which was a good choice as it was pretty good. Given that most of the hotel's clientele would have been in much the same position as ourselves they could have milked the guests for all they were worth. But they didn't and all credit to them. The menu wasn't extensive but there was a plentiful buffet, decent al la carte selection and nice range of desserts. Three courses for me came to about 20 euros and my wife's two courses about 15. The food was well presented, served quickly and not bad at all. Breakfast was in a similar vein: the standard continental selection, plenty of it and, surprise, surprise, fresh orange used (which you squeezed yourself). We've been in many 4H places which don't offer this and because of this I don't begrudge to 8 euros they charged.
So, a pleasant hotel that is a bit outside the city (and which took good 10 minutes to find despite the satnav). Worth using when en route somewhere or, at a push, for a couple of nights. At 68 euros a night for two (or 84 including breakfast) it's getting close to 3H territory so it's not perhaps the best value for money. But the restaurant – and breakfast – redeems it.
