Friendly welcome, slightly out of town, anonymous but comfortable basic, air conditioned accommodation.
The restaurant is basic; we would not choose it for anything other than buffet breakfast. We had the 4 person bedrooms which are significantly more expensive than 2 person, and are really more 3 +1 in that there is a double bed, and a single with a stow-away bed under it. Used for 3 people it is ideal, a bit more of a squash for 4, but ok.
There is an ensuite bathroom, which was basic but clean and functional- built in hair dryer, adequate lighting, mirrors, shower and bath. In both rooms the baths and sink drained slowly; we suspect build up of hair down the drains- it was a nuisance but not enough to change rooms or call out maintenance. Just allow 5 minutes between showers for it to clear away.
We had two light bulbs out, and first attempt of leaving a small tip and a note in French with one of the burnt our bulbs did not work, however next day i saw the supervisor who immediately got a maintenance man to replace them.
Big opening window- ours was open most of the time as it was not noisy outside.
Located in an area outside of the main town, it took a while to track down from the station were we arrived as we presumed it to be in town. We should have googled it first! Once found, it was a fairly easy 10-15 minute walk to the station.
Next to the station there is a supermarket, which is recommended for more in-room comfort- some shower gel, bottle of still water to drink, better coffee for the morning, biscuits.
The rooms had a small tea/ coffee making kit, with the usual tea bags, instant coffee, some biscuits and plastic or foam cups (pre-wrapped). It is all very clearly done to a budget, but the beds were comfortable, the air conditioning works, the sheets clean, adequate bath towels, walls that were not paper-thin.
We knew that this was not designed for comfort, just a handy place to sleep that is reasonably quiet, appears safe and well run.
The town itself is very odd- it is a wonder any business succeeds- while there is apparently a population of 20,000 and growing, it is a dormitory town, as it is very quiet for most of the time- we hardly saw any local residents, but many cars parked down the street suggests there are plenty of people who do live here.
We did not eat at the hotel as the accommodation we paid for did not include the 9 euro breakfast; for about 6 euro a head we had a custom made breakfast at the local bakers near the station- limited choice of savoury dishes, however if you like cakes and pastry it is fine.
Allow for the gap between trains and 10 minutes travel will get you to Disney. Also next to this town is the Val D'Europe shopping complex with 100s of standard and up market shops, just one stop up the line.
Be aware that the RER trains are not as simple as the underground system- one ticket does not give you any flexibility. If you plan to stay here and go to Paris as well as Disney, by train, then allow 35 minutes to Paris plus about 7 Eu each way for adults. Under 11 is half price. We worked out that 2 return trips in 2 days make ti worth getting the Paris visit ticket at 28 Euro for adults on a 2 day pass- it covers metro as well as RER, and saves time messing about with tickets purchased for each trip- even a block of tickets is not very convenient, as you have to keep track of which you have used, which for a bigger family becomes a practical problem- you can easily end up with a pocket of part used tickets and have to shuffle through them at the terminals.
We recommend this hotel on a budget of about 40 Eu for double and 60-80 Eu for 4 persons per room per night.
A real plus for this chain is that if you cancel it before 6pm, they refund your money so it is reassuring that if you arrive earlier and don't like it, you can cancel- we did not have reason to do it, but it helps when you are booking based on only these reviews.
Downsides? Having to use the room card for lift, to keep lights on is a little bit of a faff, but does not really bother me too much- we have seen this in much more up market hotels too. We suspect the restaurant may not be the best food or value, but its comforting to know as a last resort that the hotel has this facility, not ideal to have to cart cases to from the station, but small bags with wheels are ok. Nothing much nearby- nearest facility is McDonalds 10 minute walk. The room was clean to a point- the areas you most use are clean but we did notice that the air conditioning duct was very dusty- it might not be good for asthma suffers, for example. One of the lifts was out of order for a short while during our 3 night stay. We would prefer proper glass or china mugs for drinking but did not expect much more for the money. There is no in room safe, but given the rather remote location, fenced surroundings, I doubt that they suffer much theft from rooms that are properly locked.
Don’t expect any luxury touches but so long as you don’t expect too much, you should be satisfied. PArking seems adequate if you come by car.
