“great stop over: quiet, clean, modern, free parking, some character”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

This is a great little quirky hotel perfect if you need a stop over point and do not want to have to navigate Dijon in a car after 9 hours of driving.

IIt was super easy to find right on the main drag out of town. It was quiet with double double glazing to keep out the street noise. The bed was amazingly comfortable.

The bathroom was clean and modern. The staff was friendly and helpful and with our little bit of French and their great English communication was no problem.

There is a mini mall literally 3 minutes walk away with a pharmacy, boulangerie (open at 7:30), good sized super market and hardware store which is fantastic if you are driving and need to stock up on anything. There is also a boulangerie about 5 minutes walk if you turn right out of the back exit and go up to Chenove village. It is open at 6:30.

It has a wonderful character. Escargotiere meaning the Snailery. And their totem was displayed all over the hotel.

We did not eat at the hotel but had drinks in the reception bar area and they were the same price as anywhere else in France (stupidly expensive). The menu looked ok. Basic stuff. 15 for two courses or 20 for three.

There are two or three basic restaurants in the immediate vicinty including a Buffalo Grill and a Chinese place. We opted for the Chinese and would not recommend it.

Based on previous comments it seems apparent that the place has been recently updated and we had no complaints about cleanliness, service, or environment.

It is exactly what you would expect for 70 a night.

This is not the hotel for you if you are there to see Dijon. It is out of town and not within walking distance though the bus links appeared good. It is not in an attractive area being unfortunately situated in a strip mall industrial section. It has obviously been there for decades and the development has build up around it. There is very little around it in the way of amenities other than what has already been mentioned.

“Very Basic”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2010

We stayed at this hotel for one night, we found the bed and pillows uncomfortable after a long journey it was very dissapointing. The hotel is dated the bathroom was OK but for 59 euros we expected better. The curtains were see through which let in a lot of light and made it difficult to sleep. Would avoid this hotel if you are looking for luxury.

“Very Pleasant with good food about 3 star level”

We have stayed here a few times now and on our last trip to the Provence region
we stayed over night while travelling south and again on the way back to UK. Each time we were greeted and treated courteously and the food and wine were consistent with the region most enjoyable. A great stopping off point on our journey easy to access and makes visiting the wine regions very easy as the road leads straight down to Nuits st George. We have definitely earmarked this hotel as our favorite stopping off point when we drive down to Valbonne and Cannes

“Small but nice”

Located about two blocks from the train station and within easy walking distance of all the sights. Our room was very tiny, but well laid out with everything you would want including a minibar for refrigeration of leftovers of train lunch. There is a fine restaurant on the bottom floor.
