“Great apartment, exactly what we needed.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

This place is really great and exactly what we needed.
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment for 17 days (on the third floor, if I remember it well) and even got a discount when booking, because we stayed that long.
The lady at the reception was always very friendly and helpfull so definitely no complaints about that.

The apartment was awesome, very clean and got serviced every day.
Two large bedrooms. One with a queen bed with private bathroom and the other with twin beds. There was also a double sofabed in the livingroom so we were able to stay there comfortably with 5 people.
Besides that bathroom for the one bedroom, there was also another larger bathroom which also had a washingmachine and dryer.
The kitchen was very well equipped with very large fridge (with freezer), microwave, oven, dishwasher etc. The large kitchentable had 6 chairs.
There was also a terrace with a small table and chairs (not big enough though to sit there all together with 5).
The aircon was working very well and almost silent.
The only downside I can think of, is the internet. It's expensive and it had a download limit. Besides that it's quite fast...

The location is fine. It's not in Melbourne's city center and at a very busy road (but no noise from outside to hear inside), but you are very close to a huge shoppingcenter to do all your grocery shopping (15 minutes walk or 2 tram stops, the tramstop is almost in front of the door). The closest trainstation (Mont Albert) is about a 10 minutes walk and from there it's around 20 minutes by train to Melbourne's CBD. The last train from the city centre to Mont Albert is around midnight, so after that you'll have to take a taxi.

I would definitely stay here again and recommend the place to others!!

“Terrible experience”

I have to leave the apartment early morning which is outside the business hour so I was told to settle the payment one day before within business hour.
I came to the reception at 9:40pm to settle the payment. However, the receptionist said the computer was used for running report at the moment and asked me to come back in half an hour, and their reception closes at 11pm sharp.
I said if I can leave my credit card detail and he can process the payment when finish running the report. He rejected straight away.
I was frustrated and requested him to process the payment now because it is definitely within business hour, and it is the duty of reception.
He showed no care and said the computer is in used.
At the end, I had to wait 30min in front of him to pay the money which is a really bad experience.
On the second day, I complaint to the manager and received his apologies and one day stay free of charge.
Be aware choosing this apartment. And I don't recommend to anyone.

Regrettably technology got in the way of a positive guest experience. As explained in seperate correspondence to the guest, we could have better handled the situation allowing a better outcome. the sytem has been reviewed to avoid such situations again. thank you for the feedback.

“Rude, wet luggage, late night parking didn't work”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

We were initially happy with our 2 bedroom apartment, nice amount of space, 2 bathrooms and quite economical for what we were used to. I was told both room keys would work for the carpark but we would have to pay extra for an extra car (which was fine).
The lift was very slow and scary (made a funny noise when in use) and the stairs were not accessible unless in an emergency. I am surprised we're not still stuck in there now.
Upon returning from a relative's birthday party just before midnight, neither of the cards let us into the carpark. When we went to the intercom and spoke to the night manager he told us to take the life to the basement and walk up to the gate waving so that the doors would open. He didn't seem to care and was quite rude.
In the morning we woke to find that the hot water system (or similar) had leaked water into the room - through the carpet on the floor - and that all of our luggage and anything on the floor was saturated.
When we explained the above issues to the receptionist she was most apologetic (to our faces) and told us we could have a deduction of $4 for one of the car spaces since we could only get one car into the compound.
I near laughed in her face as I had to hand her the other $4. Without doubt worst place I've ever stayed in Melbourne.

This situation was most unfortunate. Please accept our apologies for what seems a less than satisfactory response from our Night Manager. It has been taken up with our night manager to ensure it does not happen again. We have also looked into ensuring the carpark access system is not effected by the rain. Thank you for the feedback.

“Good place to stay in the eastern suburbs.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

I stayed here two nights ago and found it to be good. I had read the other reviews and found the main topic was the lift. I really didn't care how slow the lift was, it was still going to get me to my room. As it turned out, it only took about 30 seconds to get from the carpark to the 3rd floor.

I stayed in a one bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor. The room was clean and tidy with good facilities, such as dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The shower was hot and had excellent pressure. The couch was comfortable and the TV was a good size for the room. I didn't use the DVD player or stereo, but would be good for families. So bring the DVD's for the kids.

The room was a little noisey in the morning with the cleaning staff in the morning outside in the hall. The started cleaning after 8am, so it wasn't too early, but if you were looking to sleep in, you might want to close your bedroom door.

The car park is secure under the hotel and was $4 per day and $20 for the week. There was no shortage of places to park.

“This place stinks! literally and figuratively”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Stayed a night in a two room apartment as is close to my daughter's school and we were having a late night. The hotel stinks from the moment you leave the dated and small reception area. The lift was a nightmare! It smelled foul and was very slow. The corridor to your room smells bad too but a different kind of smell (mould?? strange cooking smells?) . Then once you survive those terrible smells; joy oh joy! You get to your room and it smells like a sewer! We had to completely close off one of the rooms as the smell was terrible. When I complained no discount or change of room was offered. We left as soon as the sun came up. Now, if I need to be near my daughter's school we stay at the brand new Quest in Hawthorn. I hope they take care of it better than the one at Box Hill!! Gross!!

Room Tip: Do not stay here until they invest it fixing it up.
