“This place stinks! literally and figuratively”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Stayed a night in a two room apartment as is close to my daughter's school and we were having a late night. The hotel stinks from the moment you leave the dated and small reception area. The lift was a nightmare! It smelled foul and was very slow. The corridor to your room smells bad too but a different kind of smell (mould?? strange cooking smells?) . Then once you survive those terrible smells; joy oh joy! You get to your room and it smells like a sewer! We had to completely close off one of the rooms as the smell was terrible. When I complained no discount or change of room was offered. We left as soon as the sun came up. Now, if I need to be near my daughter's school we stay at the brand new Quest in Hawthorn. I hope they take care of it better than the one at Box Hill!! Gross!!

Room Tip: Do not stay here until they invest it fixing it up.

“Large apartments but quite dated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

We stayed two nights in a two-bedroom apartment. While the location is very good (just down the road from Box Hill Hospital and Box Hill Central, these apartments are clearly showing their age. From an antiquated and frustratingly slow single elevator to stained carpets and dirty walls, these apartments have seen better days. The cleaners are doing an adequate job, but I shouldn't be finding other peoples' detritus under beds and tables. If anyone lost a can of deodorant in room 338, I found it under the bed. I also found the heavily discounted nightly rate to be quite expensive. $200 a night? Way out in the 'burbs? Yikes.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. As you noted our apartments are due to have new carpet installed and the interior painted. We have recently had all the hallways recarpeted and the walls and doors painted and are in the process of having the same done to all of our apartments.

“Well appointed and comfortable”

This is one of the better Quests I've stayed at, with spacious rooms and a well equipped kitchen. The TV has both Foxtel and all the free to air digital channels.

The location isn't exciting but if you need to be in the area for work (as I did) then it is convenient. It's not far to Box Hill which has excellent Asian food.

The only drawback of this hotel is the lift. Now you may have been in a lift where you said "this is the slowest lift in the world!" but trust me, you were wrong. The Quest Mont Albert has to take that honour - I have never seen anything like it.

“Shocker”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2010

I've stayed in several Quest properties, which have varied from excellent to good. This was a big exception.

I was put in a room with a strong stink of mould or rising damp, with a lot of noise from the TV next door. It was terrible. When I complained, I was told it was the only room available. Yet, when I booked I stipulated I didn't want ground floor and I was told at that time there were apparently plenty of upstairs rooms.

It was overheated too, with a lift that comes from another century, so slow. A staff-member was helpful in arranging a new room after the first night but the point is people should never have to stay in, let alone pay high rates for, substandard accommodation.

Although they knew I was very unhappy with the smelly room etc, nobody contacted me to discuss it or apologise on behalf of this Quest or the company. Very disappointing.

“Great value, spacious rooms and quiet location make this the best choice in the area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2009

Stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment with a friend and will definitely be back. Rates were great value for money and rooms were comfortable with all the modern touches. Balcony was a good size and well sheltered from the street. Woman at check in was extremely helpful and provided me with free parking. Only problem is the slower than normal elevator from the carpark but it's more amusing than annoying. Had a great night at this property and I can't recommend them highly enough.
