“Good choice in barra”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Good and nice hotel in Barra da Tijuca. I.ll change the colour of the lobby from (the right now orange coral for an arena)
The room Tv is old for the category and hotel rate. WIFI? FORGET IT. NO LOBBY FREE INTERNET and if u wanna pay an ridiculuos overpriced 30 dls per day, u'll dissapointted anyway.
Tip: GO AND USE WIFI IN FRONT RESTAURANT CALLED PICANHA. Good luck. ;)

“Too expensive for the value offered”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed only 1 day and as every hotel in High season in Rio it was very expensive (290USD per night). They charge you 10% for "Hotel service" which I don´t understand why. Internet is available in the room but for an outrageous cost (26 USD per day). For the room rate paid I don´t see why they have to charge so much for this service.
Room was very big and very good quality compared to other brasilian hotels.
It was funny the system to get towels and get to the street. They ask you to go 1 go floor below ground level, pick up your towels and then follow a big sign "to the beach" that takes you to the stairs to go back to the ground floor and to the street.
At the beach you can get chairs and umbrella.
Breakfast area was huge and quality and variety of food was very good.
Receptionist was helpful but at their own slow pace as everything in Rio. They wrongly charged me for something from the minibar and they fix that without arguing but it took like 10 minutes...
So, in summary, I would not pay the high price to stay in this hotel.

“Modern, full-service hotel, on the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

Have stayed at the hotel twice, and it was consistently good. This hotel would be at home in any major city in the US, and you would not know the difference. It does not have a "Rio feel", but it is a very fine business hotel.

Lunch is the hotel restaurant is pricy, but as good as you will find in any large hotel. The bar on the top floor is also pricy, but it is a good place to have drinks with a view.

Several corporations have moved to this Rio suburb, and there are not enough hotels to handle the demand, so the prices can be high.

Food options are not too far away, but you will want to take a taxi most places rather than walking at night to and from the hotel.

Jogging along the beach is safe, with lots of jogging/walking traffic at all hours.

“Nice but not all that”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

I stayed there for 4 days during a summit, the hotel was booked by the organization, so I can't speak for the reservation.
The lobby is nice, but impersonal.
Rooms are old fashioned, not in a good way.
The breakfast is like going to a lousy eatery.

“1 out of 2 options if you have to be in Barra”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

Rio experiences an accomodation shortage. Despite the fact that many companies moved to this area, this hotel is 1 out of only 2 options (at the same level) in the large area of Barra. The other is the nearby Sheraton. Consequently, it is an expensive one. Rooms are clean and functional. 24h room service is fast and affordable. There is a fitness center with 2 treadmills at the swimming pool area, but you would better run in front of the hotel, by the beach. There are always one or two conferences taking place at Windsor Barra, so be well in advance for breakfast and checkout line. There is a shuttle to the international airport (GIG) from 7 am to 12 pm. Otherwise take a regular yellow taxi to GIG, you will pay half price comparing to the hotel special limos.
