Me and my wife to be stayed at Ranyatavi for 3 days total on our first tip to Thailand recently, we were charmed by the rewievs and adverts found browsing the net before we booked our 2 week vacation. Once on location we soon discovered that this was maybe not what we had expected. The hotel is situated on a isolated road far from any village or town. Theres not much to do around this parts at all. The hotel do offer a taxiservice if you wish to go somewhere, but it is extremely overpriced. On the road on who the hotel is situated you will be abel to find a minimart and one local restaurant. Thats it. The hotel offers a gym, this is infact a small smelly room with a low standard treadmill, a orbitrek, and a TV-shop stairmaster. I did find a 10 pound dumbell aswell. No tours are offered, theres no activities at the hotel itself, this is a place for those who wish to do absolutely nothing else then staying at the beach/pool and are contempt with that.
The food was awfull, tasted nothing and was badly cooked. There was not much on offer on the meny, so if you plan to stay for longer then 2-3 days, be prepared to having to eat basicaly the same dishes every day. The food is also very overpriced at around 200-250 baht/dish. You should not pay more then about 100-140 baht for food in Thailand. Service is actually quite good, the staff really try to make you feel welcome. However theres a language barrier that we found out to be remarkable even for Thailand. Signlanguage is the way to communicate with most of the staff.
The rooms where allright, if you enjoy cockroaches and the smell of sewers. Also, the AC was extremely loud and didnt really give you the chance to catch some sleep while running it.
I could recommend a stay for 1-3 night at Ranyatavi if you are looking for a absolutely stunning beach and beautiful wievs when your looking for some relaxation, but i wont recommend you to stay for any longer period of time if you want to experience Thailand. You need to be assured that you are realy looking for isolation and solitude when going here as there is nothing outside the hotels walls for you to take part of.
