“Disgusting”

I have had to use an Airport hotel in Bangkok several times due to miss connections and usually stay at the Amari Airport which is perfect. This time I thought that the Amari seemed a lot of money when I was arriving at midnight and leaving the next morning at 7.30am so I tried the Asia Airport Hotel as a cheaper alternative.

This is not a mistake I will not be making again.

The hotel is nothing like what is represented on the website.
It is, in short, a grotty old dump. This is the kind of place that makes you start scratching imaginary flea bites the minute you step in the door.

If you are a young traveller then maybe you could stay here but if your usual residence is anything other than a mud hutt stay well clear.

“If they bother to collect you!”

We had a night stopover in Bangkok both ends of our trip. I booked the Asia Airport hotel for convience as its close to aiport and had a transfer service (supposedly!).

On our first stay I booked by phone (more expensive than online). When we arrived at the airport nobody was there to meet us as arranged. After a 30-40 min wait and several discussions with airport information somebody finally arived and transfered us to the hotel.

The hotel itself was ok. Clean but over priced and lacking any character. The room was noisy (both traffic and the guy with a prostitute in the next door room).

Again for convience I re-booked online for our return leg. Despite two confirmation emails from the hotel when we arrived at the airport there was again nobody there to meet us. Eventually we were told the hotel never had the booking and were full and we had to find somewhere else. Pretty awful especially when travelling with a child.

  • Liked — Clean and close to airport
  • Disliked — Unreliable service and over priced
  • Tips/Secrets — Dont rely on their online booking system.

“not worth it”

overpriced. lots of confusion over our online booking. no hot water in our bathroom. hard bed. musty and tired hotel. looks like there will be or has been some construction. it was five times the price of the guest houses we stayed at for our month in Thailand, but lacked the charm and Thai friendliness. food was ok, but pricey in comparison. if you need a place to stay coming to or from the airport, you're better off staying in bangkok and arranging for a car to take you to or from at whatever odd hour you happen to be coming or going.

  • Liked — i could book it online so that i felt at ease arriving into a foreign country, knowing i had a place to stay
  • Disliked — overpriced for the quality it offered
  • Tips/Secrets — go straight into bangkok. you'll find a pleasant guesthouse in banglamphu or siam square for a quarter of the cost.

“Compared to the competition, it's not that bad...”

I have stayed here several times. I believe you really have to consider the price of the hotel, and compare that to nearby competition to get a true picture if the place is acceptable. Around Bangkok airport, there are only three hotels that I know of. The Amari Airport is outrageously overpriced, and just a little better than the Asia Airport hotel. I think the Amari is about SIX TIMES the price of the Asia Airport.

Back to the Asia Airport: my experience was that the shuttle was not frequent either. The nearby shopping center was great to have next to the hotel. It is where locals shop, so there were bargains all over the place. The computer/technology areas were especially good. The hotel pool was NOT heated, and during some periods in Thailand, a heated pool is needed. The pool was absolutely freezing... almost unheard of in humid Thailand. There was a McDonald's across from the hotel, and they do offer some reasonably healthy menu choices there. The room itself was worn, but so are the rooms at the Amari. Some rooms had great views of the landing planes, I think they charge a little extra for those rooms.

But the best news of all is in September 2006, the new Bangkok airport is supposed to open... no doubt they will have a shiny new airport hotel there, I'm certain in the $200 plus per night category. But for under $35 a night, the Asia Airport was a reasonable value.

“Awful end to our holiday”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2006

On entering the hotel (through a shopping centre) you are hit with a musty smell and this should have been enough for us to about turn and leave had we not paid at the airport 'taxi' stand.

The room was old and worn but also not clean. The bathroom as small and worn and the towels were falling to bits. We felt every spring on the mattress and didn't sleep well at all. The aircon took over 2 hours to even start to cool the room down.

The shuttle bus only runs every hour so we took a taxi and it only cost 54bt so not even the shuttle bus service was worthwhile.

We did not eat breakfast due to the state of the rest of the hotel.

Take my advise and DO NOT stay in this hotel.
