“There really is heaven on earth!”

I just can't say enough about this retreat. We usually don't spend this amount for lodging, especially in Mexico, however this was a special treat for our anniversary and we weren't disappointed. I actually can't think of one thing that was disappointing. On the contrary, from our arrival to our departure, every detail was perfecto! All staff were professional without being stuffy. They made sure that all our needs were met and surpassed. Juan Carlos and his wife were the perfect hosts, always checking to see that we were happy and content. Every cabin there is different and unique. Attention to detail must be their philosophy and it was reflected in the service, the ambience, the beautiful grounds and the room decor. Our room was called Imagen (Imagine) and from the moment we got our keys, we enjoyed the luxurious bedding, the plush robes, the private balcony with a view of the countryside and the tasteful art that was hung everywhere. Even the bathroom was special -- a big burl of wood for the sink, a glass roof for the huge spa tub complete with bubbles for the bath. Then there was the thermal-fed pool where you could just float or a section that was available to do laps. On one side of the pool is a cave-like structure where the thermal waters erupt from a large pipe. And to top it all off, breakfast is included with fresh juices, eggs (Mexican style or American) or waffles made to order, delicious coffee to wash it all down. Dinner was as expected, everything fresh -- beautiful salads, fish, chicken or steak prepared to perfection and large portions. I believe that Nirvana is definitely one of the nicest lodging experience in all my travels.

Room Tip: Look at all the rooms because each room is different, special and unique. They are all so fabulous...

“Magical place and great hosts”

LOCATION: 10 minutes driving from San Miguel's downtown in a beautiful countryside ranch. The area has a great weather year-round and it's rich in thermal springs. The beautiful Aotonilco sanctuary (UNESCO's world heritage site) is within walking (or biking) distance.

SERVICE: Guests are taken care of personally by owners Juan Carlos & Ana Laura and a great staff of hard working people. Attention to detail and guest satisfaction are clearly their main goals.

FOOD: With the owner being an awarded local chef, you can bet food is outstanding. Their cuisine is a fusion of mexican and oriental food, using organic ingredients (most from their own farm), so quality and freshness are guaranteed. If you want a very special treat for your special one, book a romantic dinner in the garden... you won't regret it!

ROOMS: They are spacious, comfortable and romantic. Even if you book the smallest one or the impressive honeymoon suite, comfort is guaranteed. They have big beds with high quality linens, terrace, fireplace, coffee maker and cable TV (even it's hard you'd want to watch TV in a place like this). Decoration is simple, cozy and in great taste.

COMMON AREAS: The ranch is huge, with lots of green areas for hiking, bird and plant watching or bike riding. The areas around the restaurant and rooms are beautifuly landscaped. One of the main attractions of this hotel is the thermal water swimming pool. Water is brought directly from the spring and it has no odor and a delicious temperature to spend hours in there. Spa treatments are unexpensive and relaxing, try the ¨quiromassages¨.

OVERALL: Beautiful countryside retreat with great service and amazing food, just 10 minutes riding from San Miguel de Allende. The personalized service and attention to detail will make your weekend or holiday a very special one.

“A special experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011 via mobile

My wife and I spent a night here and dined in the restaurant for our 16th wedding anniversary. Juan Carlos, the owner, was there to greet us on checkin. He is most gracious. Herbert, our waiter, is as good as they get, setting up a private table for us on an out of the way terrace for a candlelight dinner. The grounds are immaculate. The "Amor" suite is out of the way, well-appointed and wonderfully maintained. A walk around the grounds reminds one of what nature adds to our lives and the organic gardens are also worth a visit. We will return next year.

“Nirvana is Nirvana”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2011

My husband and I spentnValentine's Day and the next day at Nirvana. It was a wonderful end to a month in San Miguel wherebwe stayed with family. We had a delicious and romantic dinner outside on the evening of Valentine's day. Our food was beautifully prepared and kept tomthe tradition of fine food that they had when the restaurant was in San Miguel. Our room was beautiful and our bed was decorated with two big hearts made out of red flowernblossoms - very romantic. We had planned to stay only the one night, but decided to visit the pyramids which were opening to the public on Feb. 15th. It was worth the wait and also nice to stay another night at Nirvana. Their thermal pool is wonderful and the service and hospitality of all staff was amazing.

“Heaven”

This is a great place to stay in every aspect. Staying at Nirvana is like being in your best friend's vacation home (if your best friend is an incredible chef with great taste). Thermal water swimming pool is delicious, even though it could be kept cleaner as there's a lot of vegetation around and there are always leaves and dirt brought by the air. Service is great and "quiromassages" were trully relaxing. If you have a car, beautiful San Miguel de Allende is just 10 minutes away (it's worth to make the effort of leaving Nirvana one afternoon). And amazing Atotonilco's Sanctuary is within walking distance. Obviously, food is superb, as the owner is a renowned chef who's always around checking that everything's ok with your stay. We even loved the property's guardian, Nanny... she's a beautiful and hard working pet, and even if you don't like dogs she wont mess with you unless you call her.
