We just spent 3 nights here and plan to stay longer next time. We agree with all the great reviews for this guesthouse: fresh contemporary decor, beautiful quiet location, sparkling clean and comfortable rooms, easy parking. Hosts are lovely and breakfasts are delicious. The house has recently been renovated to a very high standard. We had a car, but it would be possible to stay here happily without one. It is a nice safe walk into Keswick and there is a nice neighborhood pub a shorter walk, just up the road. At night, a torch is advisable (that's a flashlight, to my fellow Americans!) We were there mainly for relaxation and sightseeing, so we did not spend much time walking. But the boat which stops nearby also stops at the access points for many spectacular walks along the shore of Derwent Water--something to plan for on our next visit. We especially recommend performances at Theatre by the Lake in Keswick. We have attended several plays there, on this visit and on others. The theatre is small enough that there is not a bad seat in the house, and the quality is consistently high--people regularly come from London to visit this theatre. There are concerts and recitals too. All in all, this was an ideal break, and one we can't wait to repeat.

Myself and my partner have just back from a 4 night stay here, having never been to the Lake District before. The guesthouse is extremely easy to find and in a great location for visiting Keswick and the rest of the Lakes. The bonus of this place is that it has a private car park with plenty of space, and is out of the town so is very peaceful.

The bedrooms were a good size and spotless, with lovely views of the surrounding hills. There was plenty of storage space, and refreshments which were restocked daily. The bathroom had a VERY powerful shower, and the l'occitane products were a very nice touch.

The breakfast included everything you could want, and was delicious every day!

Andrew and Helen were both very welcoming and approachable and gave us any info we needed of the surrounding area.

We will definitely be staying here again if we go back to the Lake Distrct and are already recommending it to everyone. It was excellent value for money and I would definitely give it 5*!

We definitely made the right choice when we searched the internet for a guest house near Keswick. Powe House is situated in the village of Portinscale, a 20 minute walk or a few minutes drive into Keswick. The guest house is in a very idyllic location, surrounded by much greenery. Andrew made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, so we enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing stay.

We stayed in Room 3, which was neutrally yet extremely tastefully decorated, so it really would suit anyone. It was extremely spacious with bags of storage space so we had no excuse for keeping the room untidy! Our bathroom and the dining room, corridors and sitting room all followed the same suit, with the guest house spotlessly clean throughout.

We really enjoyed the hearty breakfast, for me personally, the locally sourced cumberland sausage was a particular highlight.

We truly had an excellent stay at Powe House and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anybody. For the service you receive and the quality of the accommodation, it truly is value for money. This place really is closer to a 5* than a 4*.

I have never filled one of these out before but felt compelled to do so!
We have stayed in many guest houses before but this was by far the best, a nice contemporary feel with a personal touch and not the usual doiley resting place!

The family owners were very welcoming and clearly put their heart into their home, we have never stayed in the same place twice before but we will certainly be returning here.
