We was satisfied with this hotel, location is great, hotel has a beautiful beach and gardens.

I've stayed at this hotel a few times over the past 8 years and it gets worse each time. My last visit was a month ago and it will be my last. Nothing special anymore -- aging facilities, priced over its value, and very little aloha to be felt by working staff. Pool area was overcrowded and reminicent of a scene from a college town spring break, minus any positive vibe. Much better alternatives available on the Big Island. Only stay here if you absolutely have to be right next to Hapuna beach -- a location which this hotel holds a virtual monopoly on and behaves in a likewise manner.

The location is great. It's about 20 min. drive from the Kona Airport, plenty of self parking. It is not too big, not too small.
You have a pretty good ocean view from "partial ocean view" rooms.
We enjoyed the great selection of breakfast buffet, and saw the whales from the Ocean Terrace every morning!

The guest rooms are very spacious but need a major update. The bathroom was big with double vanity which is a HUGE plus.
Most of the guest rooms are equipped with 2 queen size beds, so if you looking for the room with king size bed, you should CALL THE HOTEL AND TELL THEM EXACTLY what you want. Web reservation may not let you have what you want.

Sometimes when you stay at the large resort hotel, you feel like you are on a "cruise ship". Even spacious ground make you feel "bit too crowded" or "have-to-participate-every- programs-the-hotel-offerring (with pay)".

But at this hotel, you are on your own. You will be comfortable do nothing, reading a book on the beach, walking on the ground, or driving off to the island venture.
We will come back to this resort even the room was bit disappointed. Because of it's quietness and their friendly services.

Great beach for walking or lazing – not Hawaii’s normal black/grey. Sea was too rough for swimming and broke too close in-shore for surfing. Excellent pool and surrounds larger than you would normally expect.

Restaurant food is ok for a night or two but too expensive for what it was. When we were there the buffet restaurant was closed - don’t know if that happens often but the staff didn’t seem surprised.

The room was large but dark – clean but not attractive, small scruffy balcony, nice walk in shower. Wouldn’t want to spend very long in this room!

Ok for a short stop.
