When my wife and I return to the Kirkintilloch area we invariably have a meal here because of the service and quality. We did so on the 10th December and we were quiet disappointed. The brochette starter was white bread toasted and the haggis balls were cylinders with not much haggis, The sauces for these dishes were fine. Main courses were varied in quality, the chicken and bacon wrap was fine but made messy with a bed of mash and veg. The salmon was wonderful but spoiled again by messy plate of mash etc. The fish and chips was OK although the fish was slightly undercooked and the chips are out of a bag of frozen mass produced, we asked the waitress if the chips were "proper" chips and we were assured they were, they were not. The steak could not be called a sirloin although it was cooked OK and tasted alright, but was spoilt by a messy and excessive onion and mushroom bed, the same applies as before for the chips. The desserts, caramel cake, of which two were served, were abysmal, hard to the point of needing a hammer and chisel to eat them, they were sent back and we asked to have them removed from the bill which they were. The last time we ate here in July we couldn't fault the meals, what has changed? The chef? Cut backs because of the recession? Please return to your previous standards (with proper chips) as the front of house staff, ambiance and location has a lot going for them/it. We did not stay in a room.

We were very disappointed to read that you felt your most recent visit was not up to our usual standard. If you were considering visiting us again when you are next in Scotland I would be delighted if you contacted us in advance to allow us the opportunity to make amends.
