We arrived for a wedding weekend booked to start at 1.30pm. We were told our room wouldn't be ready until after the wedding which meant we couldn't change and get ready for the wedding which we found to be very inconvenient. The reason? Guests from the previous day's wedding checked out at 10.30. Surely they could organise their staff to prepare the rooms for 1pm?
We stayed in the lodge, the room was not country house standard and disappointingly bland. The wedding meal and breakfast were both good. The staff, except for reception and slow bar service, were fine.

This hotel is in a lovely position for travel to Bristol or Bath and in a beautiful location. If you want a tranquil stay for a cheaper price, this is perfect.

The room itself was basic, clean and overlooking the grounds... we couldn't fault it except that it wasn't in the main hotel, but a block over the driveway. This wasn't a particular problem, but it would have been nice to be in the main building.

The food was lovely, even though the service was somewhat lacking (it wasn't busy, but took a long time to take our bar/food order, deliver the food, clear the plates etc) - perhaps because the staff were young / new? This didn't impact the overall stay, but perhaps could do with a few tweaks.

We would definitely reccommend this as a place to stay, especially in the summer where you would be able to wonder the grounds and enjoy the evening.

One tip: check the restaurant times before you book, as they close it if there are events or weddings on. We were a bit annoyed this wasn't mentioned when we booked.

I stayed with my partner whilst attending a friends wedding and found the grounds, staff and service to be a pleasant surprise. The accomodation was basic but functional for our needs as was only used to change and sleep. The room rate was reasonable considering it is a private wedding venue and include breakfast which was lovely. We didn't have much need to deal with the staff but when we did they were polite, efficient and personable. A lovely stay even if it was a bit of a blur.

We stayed here as part of a wedding party. The location and grounds are delightful. The food for the wedding was good. We went for breakfast at about 9:00 and there was not a lot left. We had to wait for coffee whilst a coffee pot was found.The whole weekend was let down by the accommodation. We were in the lodge and the room was poor. The curtain rail was hanging off on one end , there was a stain on the carpet, black mould in the shower etc
