I stayed in the Art Hotel for two nights while visiting Chambery and Vallee Pierre d'Entremont. After arriving by rail, I walked immediately to the Art Hotel-a few blocks from the station and arranged a room for two nights. The room was clean, cheap and had a view(hard to miss from any vantage point)of the massif Mount Grenier. I did not mind the noise of the trains coming and going. On Saturday, there was a great open market only a 5 min. walk away. The Art Hotel is a good place to hang your hat.

The hotel is central. We left our car on the street in front of hotel and it was relatively cheap (parking is free after 19,00 hrs). The room was small but cozy enough. The bathroom had a bath tub only and was giving to the train station and although it says the rooms are soundproof, you can still hear the trains passing. Luckily it wasn't hot outside so we left the windows closed.
The staff didn't speak English but we managed fine with our banana French. They recommended us some restaurant and even gave us a coupon for a free drink in one of them.

A place for the younger generation. No parking, although it says it has it. The desk clerk was a little sullen, but explained how I could park on the street for (almost) free. There is no air conditioning, but if you open the window you hear the trains. Some interesting decor touches but the orange curtains and bedspread sinks it for me. Internet access works fine.

Basic hotel near railway station and centre of town. Rooms are fairly large but no frills or wardrobe come to that. Free internet in rooms is a plus together with the friendly staff make it ok.
