The hotel is a s,all chateux in the outskirts of Chambery and is ideal for the French Alpine region. We just stayed for one night en route but would have liked to stay for more. We got a very good discounted room rate through the internet which I would recommend because the advertised rack rates are rather steep. We got put in a funny little annex room off the main building but it was very nice and spacious with a big bathroom. There was no holder for the shower head though which made having a shower raher awkward and didn't seem to make sense in an otherwise beautifully appoined bathroom. The bedroom was nicely decorated with lots of wood panneling and a comfortable four poster bed. There were picture windows, although the view was somewhat obscured by trees. There was a minibar but no tea or coffee making facilities. Very disappointingly for a hotel of this standard there was no internet in the room and the wi fi was only available in the public areas - this is simply not good enough these days for a hotel of this standard.
We ate in the orangery restaurant which was terrific, fantastic food, great staff albeit a little pricey and a bit inflexible - I asked to change the desert on the fixed price menu for one I actually liked but this was apparently too much trouble ! This isn't on especially when you are paying so much for the experience, which I will say was otherwise very special.
Breakfast was lovely and served in a nice room, very lovingly decorated, like all the public areas.
Overall a great hotel but just let down by some silly lapses and one howler - the lack of in room internet.
Room Tip: Book an internet discounted rate
