Knowing I was going to have a long drive from Dorset to Aberdeen, I decided to book into this Travelodge to break my journey. I wish I hadn't.
The room was filthy and the dust thick on the TV and desk. The curtains appeared to have never been washed and I did not want to touch them.
The bathroom - the basin was very badly cracked, the toilet did not flush properly and it would appear that this problem was known, as the panel at the back of the toilet had been removed several times and the nails were still sticking out - up to half an inch!
The toilet roll only had a few sheets on it and the spare was loose and trailing on the floor and was such an inferior quality of tissue that I was glad I did not have the need to use it.
The bath was disgusting the shower curtain was brown and pink at the bottom, a sure sign of bacteria - it looked as if it had been screwed up in a bag and then re-hung. The hot water was just about luke warm. The bathroom floor had not been cleaned in a very long time. I would not walk in there without my shoes on.
Light fittings were filthy, the lamp above the TV was unbelievable
I pulled back the quilt to find the sheets had holes in.
If a had not been so tired and exhausted, I would have collected my bags and found somewhere else to lay my head.
There was a food counter that offered Costa coffee and cold snacks. The counters had stale food left in the containers.
The £7.99 cooked breakfast offered in the morning was not appealing and I left without a shower and a grumbling stomach and was anxious to get to the next stop for hot food and the use of the washing facilities.
