“KNOCK IT DOWN”

Knowing I was going to have a long drive from Dorset to Aberdeen, I decided to book into this Travelodge to break my journey. I wish I hadn't.
The room was filthy and the dust thick on the TV and desk. The curtains appeared to have never been washed and I did not want to touch them.
The bathroom - the basin was very badly cracked, the toilet did not flush properly and it would appear that this problem was known, as the panel at the back of the toilet had been removed several times and the nails were still sticking out - up to half an inch!
The toilet roll only had a few sheets on it and the spare was loose and trailing on the floor and was such an inferior quality of tissue that I was glad I did not have the need to use it.
The bath was disgusting the shower curtain was brown and pink at the bottom, a sure sign of bacteria - it looked as if it had been screwed up in a bag and then re-hung. The hot water was just about luke warm. The bathroom floor had not been cleaned in a very long time. I would not walk in there without my shoes on.
Light fittings were filthy, the lamp above the TV was unbelievable
I pulled back the quilt to find the sheets had holes in.

If a had not been so tired and exhausted, I would have collected my bags and found somewhere else to lay my head.

There was a food counter that offered Costa coffee and cold snacks. The counters had stale food left in the containers.

The £7.99 cooked breakfast offered in the morning was not appealing and I left without a shower and a grumbling stomach and was anxious to get to the next stop for hot food and the use of the washing facilities.

Room Tip: Avoid this Travelodge. I wish I had taken photos - but too tired.

“Average quality TL, you know what you're getting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

Stayed here for one night while travelling the length of Britain, overall it's not a bad Travelodge at all, certainly not as bad as some reviews make out.
On the downside, (as mentioned frequently here) there's no food option of an evening save for a petrol station. Rooms on the M6 side are within hearing distance of the motorway, so take earplugs if you're easily disturbed. (I'm not, I wasn't affected).
On the upside the staff were excellent, professional and courteous. They gave me plenty of options of places to eat nearby in Carlisle (10 mins drive away, so the "no food" thing isn't really that bad at all, since you have to have a car to reach this lodge). The room was clean, a lot more modern and warm than other TL's on the M6, and everything worked as it should.
For £22, I couldn't have asked for much more, so I was pretty happy overall. If you plan ahead to dine elsewehere, and as long as you're paying a lowish rate, it's not a bad option at all.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the M6 are quietest.

“Avoid this lodge.”

Only food is from a costa coffe until 8pm. Rooms are shoddy. Bathroom fittings all loose.doors with security tape. Windows with security cables to prevent them been opened too wide. Sewarage smells as walked to petrol station shop to get shower gel, vending machine was out of shower gels. Travelodge never again.

“OMG WHAT HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS PLACE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

I stayed here back 2007, and was pleasantly suprised from the experience, despite being on a undeveloped overgrown site, the manager and his staff made up for it, with excellent clean rooms, and such cheery staff, from what I can remeber it was a family
affair of staff from management down to cleaners, and it showed thet took pride in there
lodge and customer.

On that basis I asked my emploet to book me in therw when I was given the Scottish borders stores region in the company, well where do I start arrived and though OMG what has happened here, bins overflowing, no net curtains for privacy, on check in i was greeted with a YES, i daren't ask where the manager was or some the staff, entered my room and well dirty dog hairs all over floor, bedding that had not been changed, i returned to reception and was told well there no more rooms, i asked for a refund was refused, told to get in touch with customer services - appaled, i got my bags and left.

So mad to drive I went into Costa next door, where the lovley girl on duty rang the premier inn for me and got me a room, she told me the staff I once knew all left when the manger was removed, and the place has never recovered.

“Trust me,DO NOT GO THERE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

Booked a single night here last week on our way to Scotland,it was a 'no cancellation' deal. After a trouble free 300 mile drive we arrived early at Todhills Travel Lodge at 12 30, the dour chap on reception promptly informed us that it would cost a futher £5 per hour if we wished to check in early, this despite the fact the room was ready. We declined his kind offer and decided we would spend the extra £12 50 on lunch at the site cafe,we then discovered that this is no longer a Little Chef, but now a Costa Coffee cafe which offered a small selection of cake, pastries and filled rolls, that was it! We could have headed South to the next junction and found somewhere to eat in Carlisle, then driven back up to the next junction and returned South again to Todhills,an overall distance of some 12 miles. Faced with this,or a diet of cake for the next 17hours,we decided to cut our losses and head on over the Border, upon informing the reception of this he took considerable pleasure in informing us that we would'nt recieve a refund,we had not even asked! My advice to any weary traveller contemplating a stop over at this dire location would be to keep going ( unless they are on a diet ) And as a point of interest, when we departed at 1300hrs there were just two vehicles in the entire car park which probable says it all!
