“Disappointed New Year's Eve break”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Having stayed at the Lord Haldon many times, we decided to go for a 2 night New Year's Eve break. Although on New Year's Eve the restaurant looked lovely, unfortunately, the 7 course meal was very disappointing and the first 3 courses were served so quickly, it seemed like the staff were in a race to see how quick they could serve. Also my husband ordered the guinea fowl but when it was served, it was not guinea fowl but chicken.
We did not get the glass of bubbly which was advertised and had literally one canape each which was about the size of a boiled sweet!
The next night, included in our break, was a 4 course meal, which was a minimal choice. I chose the rump steak which was very tough and also included the same over-micowaved vegetables from the New Year's Eve meal.
We cannot fault the room and the hotel is beautifully quiet and most of the staff are really good.
We feel extremely let down by this visit and regrettably we will not be staying again.
Sorry Lord Haldon.

Room Tip: We would suggest room 31 or 32 as these are quiet rooms.

“Excellent Weekend Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Have just returned from an excellent weekend break. There were ten of us in our party and all the rooms were of good quality. The staff were tremendous - with nothing to much trouble. Not easy when there is a large party to cater for. All meals were delivered together and hot for all courses. If you want a quiet weekend in the country - this cannot be beaten.
Thanks to all the staff.

“Friendly welcome, speedy checkin, helpful local information, clean room and a great freshly cooked vegetarian breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011 via mobile

Would recommend this hotel as a good place to stay, however its not the easiest location to get to as you have to drive along some very, very narrow lanes. This is soon forgotten though as the staff make you feel very welcome and at ease. The restaurant menu lacks vegetarian options but you do get a freshly cooked vegetarian breakfast that will more than set you up for the rest of the day. All in all no issues with staff, rooms and breakfast just can be very difficult to find especially in the dark

“Recommended.”

I have just returned after spending 5 days, 4 nights at the Lord Haldon where I was attending a training event. The hotel itself it set within beautiful rolling countryside, where you can enjoy lovely walks and breath in the fresh air! Nothing is too much trouble for the staff here who I always, without exception, found to be helpful and friendly. The food is wonderful, especially the breakfast where every effort is made to accomodate your particular tastes and wishes (I had perfectly soft boiled eggs with soldiers on one morning!) I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will definately be returning for a weekend break. What's more, well behaved dogs are welcome too!
