“Peaceful in mountain area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed for 2 nights for weekend break from Bangkok.

The resort has maintained the natural atmosphere, peacefulness, and down to earth feeling. The room has no luxury, but comfortable enough. Fresh air and stunning mountain view are countless here. Breakfast is good. We also tried dinner and spa which are also good. It is about an hour drive from Airport, but it is worth coming here.

“One of the best hotels I have been to in SE Asia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

I have been meaning to post this review for a while. I have been travelling to SE Asia (Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam) every winter for the past 3 years for holidays and I keep a fond souvenir of Phu Chasai. Most notably, the open air breakfast on the terrasse overlooking the countryside are among the best ones I have experienced in Asia (if nothing has changed since Dec 2008). Every morning was a feast with many counters preparing all sort of food in front of you and home made jams and fresh vegetables which I suspect are being grown locally. We spent NY's eve there. It was Thai style but a lot of resources had been involved. The staff was splendid too. We had a real fun evening with my fiance and we finished in the bar having drinks with the owner and other guests from France, Japan, etc. Friendly. About the rooms, I personally don't need much comfort and I thought they were fine. No TV, etc. The view / landscape was amazing. The bathrooms are open air and you will have the occasional Gecko running along the walls. The paint / finishing were getting a bit old and in need of renovation but nothing dramatic. There is a lot of bamboo in this hotel. One downside is that the hotel is far from the city, which makes it a quiet place to regroup / recover after some active travelling but expensive if you want to travel around / use as a base to visit Chiang Rai and the city. We tried to go the city by bus and it is not straight forward. You still need to book a ride with the hotel to get to the main highway. However, in short it is a good resort / hotel. I hope it hasn't changed too much.

“A peaceful resort with nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The hotel staff lost our original booking via a travel agency so we didn't get the original room type we booked. At first, we were so worried but the front desk staff did manage this incident professionally. She upgraded our room to a new pool villa which is much nicer than the honeymoon suite. Since the resort is in the mountain area so we decided to have a dinner here which was a good decision. The foods are delicious except some menus are not available since the resort ran out of some ingredients. Be sure to try the breads. They are so good. One negative thing about this resort is breakfast. Even we went to have breakfast around 9:00 am, most of the foods are gone and the resort didn't refill the foods. Other than this, we had an enjoyable moment here and would recommend this resort to other couples.

“Amazing place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

Phu Chaisai is a paradise in the nature. Rooms are made of bamboos which give a great atmosphere and the spa and swimming pool are magic.

I would definitely stay again in this hotel.

“A hill resort that makes you feel like you're in the rain forest.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

For moderately priced accommodation in the hills in the Golden Triangle, you can't beat the place. We had a family suite - 2 bedroomes, 2 lounge areas and 2 bathrooms. Rooms a bit drak because the walls and ceilings are covered in bamboo. Beds comfy. A few mosquitos, but not a major problem.
Restaurant - best Thai food we've ever had, but Western dishes not up to scratch. Prices very reasonable, especially for wine/beer.
Great tours organised by the resort.

Room Tip: Higher room - i.e. on restaurant level.
