“don't go there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2011

outrageously over priced. one of only two places in town ( using the word town very lossely), so you're a prisoner. the food was ok, with very small portions, and no choices . you eat what they cook, and pay alot for it. wine only available by the bottle, and that too was overpriced, but since there really isn't a town, well where you going to go. the room looked like a motel 6. there was almost no water in the lake, so, so much for canoing, or boating. the only time we were happy there was when we were leaving. i'm sure that if you are only going to belize for the birding, this might be a good first stop, but if you're into anything else, skipt crooked tree, and for goodness sakes don't even think about the cashew festival.

“Amazing sights”

The greeting from staff was friendly and informative. Rudy drove us in from the airport and stopped off to show us the Jabiru stork nest. The rooms were basic, but clean and equipped with AC and ceiling fan for sleeping comfort. We met most of the guests during our 2 night stay. Everyone was friendly and interesting. The food was good home cooking and when I asked for hot sauce, Chef Stephanie made some for us. Natalie was a 'darlin' and took care of all our needs.

You must go during this season to see the birds! Get up before dawn and be prepared to be amazed. Flocks of wood storks fly overhead when you leave your room. Going out in the boat tour is also a must do.

There is not much of a 'village' that we found, but the lodge is enough. Explore in mornings, nap in the hammocks in the afternoon, watch the stars at night.

Room Tip: I recommend a second floor room

“knowledgeable guides & friendly staff, scary alarm at 11 p.m.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2011

This was a good lodge for my spouse who loves birding. It was nice to just tell the staff what we wanted to do and have them make all the arrangements. I really enjoyed the Lamanai Tour of the Mayan ruins. We came in an off season. Our first night, we were the only ones in the building that night--it felt a little odd and spooky to be alone in the building without even any staff there. In the middle of the night, a loud alarm went off. We had no idea what is was for. It went off for 30 minutes, but no staff members responded to the alarm. My mind went wild, "Has someone broken into the building?" and "Should we open the door and see what's going on?" Finally, we located an emergency phone number and called it. It took a while for someone to get up, get dressed and come over. It took over an hour for them to make the noise stop. I was nervous and had a hard time falling back to sleep. The next morning we learned that the battery for the security alarm went dead, causing the alarm to go off. They had to disable the alarm until they could get a special battery. The next night, the alarm was disabled, so it didn't go off in the middle of the night.

We really enjoyed our knowledgeable guide and that they took care of our trips and transfers for us. We just didn't get a very good night's sleep. Only suggestion for improvement, keep a spare alarm battery on hand.

“Unbelievable!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 April 2011

We got to Crooked Tree and were immediately impressed by the cleanliness and very friendly Receptionist (who's name escapes me(.
The rooms were extremely clean and comforable and right there on the lagoon. We watched the moon rise the night after a wonderful and delicious buffet dinner. We helped ourselves and felt like we were at home. This is nice because we were traveling like a family with 2 small children and visiting relatives. We wanted to be able to see Belize and still feel at home.
I admired the Receptionist's patience with explaining to guests who were infornt of us. She just kept her cool and repeated herself when the same question was asked in a different way. The kids went horseback riding on Ginger and No Respec. Both horses very tame and good, seeing that the kids are 11 and 9, I was a bit concerned.
We watched the moon rise over the lagoon while we lounged in hammocks by the lagoon and were swayed by the cool breeze.
B.E.View is really a wonderful place with incredible staff. Thank you for the exceptional service and warmth my family felt while in your company.

Room Tip: Ask, they are not psychic.

“Terrible. Felt very ripped off”

Stayed here due to Bord Watching. Very disappointing, the manager Vernas could care a less about the guests. The rate was out of this world, compared to other Hotels
My suggestion is rent a car visit the area and get a "real" hotel in somewhere else. We ended up moving to the Radisson and it was cheaper and 150% better
At night there is no lighting- it not a safe place. My wife's personal belongings were tampered with and a few went missing. Plastic bedding- dirty towels
I guess their claim to fame is Bird Watching and then ripping you off more once your there for meals and tours
Youll regret this choice, we sure did
