“Nice Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

Sent my parents on their 30th wedding anniversary at they stayed at the hotel. They had a great time, the receptionist that handled their booking was a pleasure to deal with and congratulated them on their anniversary - which was a very nice touch! they siad location is very handy and the scenary is amazing as i evident by the many pictures! rooms are clean and very nicely kept as is the hotel. all in all my parents enjoyed their time in this area and days when the weather was not great they could relax in this surrounding! Recommended by a couple who have travelled extensively so thumbs up Tir gan ean!

Room Tip: clean and modern!

“worst treatment i have ever recieved”

i go on trips alot i love staying in hotels. i was in charge of organising my sister's hen. my sister booked tir gan ean in January and i confirmed the booking in march i gave them my e-mail and phone number. in June they started sending my sister very upsetting e-mails stating they were cancelling the booking. i rang them to explain i was dealing with the booking i was given the price per person and then told i needed everybodies credit card details. i give mine and they already had my sisters i explained that i would not be getting anymore. i rang 2 days before we arrived to make sure everything was ok they said it was i asked cud i call into the rooms at 12 midday they said yes wen i arrived i was told that no i cud not check in until 2 even tho i was ok 2 days before. when i arrived back they told me firstly that they had no bar and the lights in lift no longer worked but the lift was still fine. the next morning we all went for breakfast, in all my life i was never treated so badly firstly the waitress never served us for 20minutes 1 lady came in after us and she served her first then one girl asked for butter and she never got it for her but as the waitress walked back into kitchen she said "f**ksake who do they think they are they can wait for there f**king food" i couldnt get over how rude she was. when the food did come out all the orders were wrong. when checking out she tried to charge 110euro extra i asked to talk to the manager who i was told was off but i was given the original price i asked for manager to contact me but 6weeks later and a further 2 calls from me and ive heard nothing. i really am so upset for such a new hotel the staff ruinned it. also the sheets were definatly not changed as there was hair and marks on bottom sheet.

“Will not be back”

This hotel is underused and fells like staying in a ghost town. The rooms where not clean, staff tried hard but only there some of the time. The lights did not work in the elevator and the many hallway doors where noisy. Breakfast was OK, the bar and restaurant were not open.
I's suggest skipping Doolin altogether unless you enjoy tired traditional music in the company of tourist who bus in and out the same evening. There are so many great pubs with excellent music in Galway, Dingle and elsewhere - don't waste your time here.

“Loved Doolin but Hotel/House disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

Felt it was very pricey for a 3 bed house. It is obvious that the hotel/ housing complex is being run into the ground as the outside of the houses and facilties in the houses are in need of repair and replacement. The green ares and shrubs are overgrown onto the footpath and the place is generally unkempt. The beds are very small in the house. The hotel staff were unhelpful on check in and when i asked ot speak to a manager i was told that she was not there but that she will possibly be there the next week -when we were checking out!! i left my number for her to call me -unsurprisingly she didnt!! we asked about the vat rate and was told that they have an agreed rate , i asked with who and the receptionist said 'ourselves' The hotel has no bar licence and no restaurant operating despite what the website says but they do breakfast each morning! we did not see sight nor sound of any staff all week long! You must pay €6 per day for gas heating even if you do not use it ! and then you also have to pay electricity. Despite the accomodation we had a brilliant holiday in Doolin and wold love to visit again but we may give Tir gan Ean a miss! I would complain directly but i really dont think they would care!

“Nice Hotel, but still finding it's feet..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

I stayed here with my girlfriend for two nights in July 2011. The location can't be faulted, being right in the middle of the village.
Ample parking.
Very friendly and informative polite staff.
Free Wi-FI
Comfortable room, decent bathroom etc.
Couple of teething problems that I would have thought you couldn't get away with as a 4* hotel

- No license to sell alchohol yet. Surely this is a requirement prior to getting a 4* rating? Two complimentary drinks per resident per stay doesn't really make up for it.
- The lights in the lift weren't working when we arrived, and still weren't working when we checked out.
- We stayed on the first floor, and the hallway was a bit noisy. Every time someone opened their bedroom door, the hallway door would open slightly and then shut with a bang. A little annoying.
- The blackout curtains in the room whilst effective, didn't extend far enough so a lot of light crept in around the edges. I used chairs to pin the curtains against the wall.
- There were a few other small things, but nothing that detracted from our stay.

Overall we were happy with the hotel, but if you're paying 4* prices, you expect 4* all round.
