“super weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

i stayed in this accommodation with a few friends and all 6 of us had such a wonderful time ! on arrival we were greeted by a very friendly man who gave us all the information about bus times, boat times to the island etc. Our room was basic and simple, perfect for a weekend stay! The bathrooms were clean with great electric showers. in the downstairs area the fire was always lit and the kitchen was always tidy and fully equipped . I will definitely be staying in this hostel every time i visit doolin!

“Paddy's Doolin Hostel was great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

September 2011. Also, stayed here in March 2007. This was my second vacation to Ireland and the second time I stayed at this hostel. It's in a great location on Fisher Street. Walking distance to the little shops and O'Connors Pub. We parked at the hostel and walked everywhere. It's also only a 5 minute drive to the Cliffs of Moher. The hostel itself is very cute. The rooms I stayed in both times had bunk beds and were clean and had ensuite bathrooms with towels and hair dryers included. Their kitchen is large and clean. The community room is cozy with a fireplace. The owner is very nice and accommodating. The rooms are inexpensive. Overall this hostel is the best location for the lowest price in Dooiln.

“bed bug's, poor access, rude staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

-on arrival there was no one in the office and we had to wait half an hour for someone to appear and sort out our booking meanwhile having to ask other hostel guests where the toilet was for my elderly father to use after a long trip.
-when finalising our booking wasnting to pay for our accommodation, we were told we had to drive for 30 minutes return drive to find an ATM because they only accepted cash!! therefore we said we would pay in the morning as we weren't driving again after already driving half od the day.
-when arriving at Doolin Hostel while holidaying with 12 other family members from Australia,
-we discovered half of the accommodation was across the fairly busy main road with only bathroom amenities.
-the lounge and cooking facility was in the main building across the road,
-there wasn't a freezer in the kitchen.
-when booking the hostel was aware there were children and elderly people in our group but made no attempt of giving us accommodation in the main building so they didn't have to cross the main road for food! cup of tea even!
-the rooms seemed ok at first but after all of us itching all night long it was obvious by the rash from scratching that there were bed bug's.
-the shower was a press button timed system which lasted for 20 seconds so every 20 seconds it had to pushed again otherwise the water stopped.
-the next morning after telling the man in the office about the bed bug's and the accommodation being across the road with children and elderly parents wasnt acceptable. he was very abusive as we had booked for 3 nights.
my arguement was,
1) you dont accept card for payment either eftpos or credit therefore that is the reason we have not yet paid you in full otherwise you would have had your full payment yesterday.
2 ) your beds have bugs in them we were all itching all night. [he said he did not believe us even though we stayed in 4 rooms and ALL had rashes and were itching]
3 ) your shower statem is appalling.
4 ) we were not told at the time of booking that we would have to cross the main road to use the kitchen or lounge area and you knew we had small children and elderly people in our group.
5) my parents and 2 others in our party refused to stay at all they found a B & B as it was completely unsuitable accommodation, there was no heating in my parents room.
He demanded full payment for all the rooms we booked for all three nights,
I said I will pay you one night for all the rooms and he again was abusive and said his boss will be contacting me by email, he even mentioned having the police involved.
I handed him cash for one night for 4 rooms [which I had to drive half an hour to get from an ATM] and left.
this accommodation isnt even comparitively cheap for the value for money, the next day we found accommodation in The Doolin Activity Lodge which was amazing value for money [see review].

We apologise we could not meet the guests expectations. We are not perfect but we pride ourselves on cleanliness and friendliness. So called “rude staff” member is the kindest and friendliest gentleman you will ever meet, please see other reviews.
Cleanliness is always rated highly in reviews prior and after they stayed. We do not have bed bugs and the reviewer did not see any, nor make reference to any bites. I suggest that they may have picked up something prior among themselves, as all 12 got rash and travelled together. To be safe we have had the rooms inspected and none were found.
We cater for many children and elderly visitors the oldest to date was 97 years young. We accept credit cards but the nearest ATM is 4 and 8 miles away. Showers are push button to minimise our impact on the beautiful local environment and ensure everyone has a hot shower. If you have any questions or queries we would be happy to talk to you, please email us at Josephine@doolinhostel.com.

Kindest Regards
Josephine Moloney

“Great family get away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

Had a great stay at Paddys Doolin Hostel, Myself, my wife and two kids had a private room which had 4 beds and private bathroom and shower. Normally don't stay in a hostel but as the weather was unpredictable we decided last minute to stay at Paddys, instead of going camping.

We were not disappointed, the hostel was very clean, the beds very comfortable, and the shower was good and hot. David who was looking after the place was very friendly and very informative on things to do in the locality and we meet "Paddy" too. The great thing was the ample size kitchen and dining room which was great to gets the kids sorted out for meals. The sitting room was a generous size too and there was free WiFi.

The hostels location was excellent in the center of the village, a 2 minute walk to the famous O Connors pub. Theres a bus stop right outside the hostel, Ample car parking. We went to the Aran Islands for a day and the pier is about a km away, the crossing took about 20 minutes, Up the hill to the left was a great walk as around the corner the Cliffs of Moher started, we got some amazing photos.

We hope to go back soon as we had a great time and there is lots more we would like to see and do.

“Favorite hostel ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2011

Paddy's was absolutely amazing. David was without a doubt the friendliest person we met on the entire trip and was so incredibly helpful to us. He was there to greet us at the door, drew us a map, and had fresh scones ready in the morning. He really remembered everyone and made us feel welcome at all times. The area is breathtaking with the Cliffs of Moher and Aran Islands nearby. Stop by Gus O'Connor's pub down the road for some of the best meals and friendliest people around (and the chocolate shop a few shops down- DELICIOUS fudge). The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the showers worked great. My friend and I stayed in nine hostels throughout Ireland, Scotland and England but Paddy's was without a doubt the best one. I'd go back in a heartbeat!
