Our family arrived late at Aille River Hostel after a long, rain-soaked drive up from Co. Cork. It was a bit disconcerting to walk, dazed and confused, into a full hostel buzzing with languages from across Europe. A good night's sleep later, we quickly saw that this was a very well-run place, and were happy to have a place like this to share with fellow travelers. Karl, the owner, is an amazing dynamo of a person, able to carry on several conversations at once (as he's often called upon to do), yet always seems to have time to draw you a map of the best back way into the Cliffs of Moher or tell you which are his favorite hikes in the Burren. The location is ideal, an easy walk from several great trad music pubs and the beach. The Cliffs are a long hike or a short drive/hike away. If you like mixing with friendly people and exploring the CO. Clare landscape, this is an excellent choice.
