My husband and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at 'The Old Kent Barn'. The Barn is off the busy main road, so its lovely & quiet. Hilary & Roger are wonderful hosts & made us feel very welcome. We stayed in the spacious & very comfortable Ruby room, which is also the 'Bridal Suite', as couples can get married on the site, either in the Barn, on the gorgeous gallery over-looking the garden or in the garden itself under a lovely gazebo. The breakfast each morning was delicious, with a selection of fresh fruit, cereals and fruit juices available. We had the full cooked breakfast and didnt need to eat again until very late in the afternoon. There is a fish pond at the front of the barn & also a tennis court to use. We stayed at the Barn due to its location in Kent, it gave us the opportunity to visit Bodium, Hever, Dover, Walmer & Deal Castles (yes, we are history geeks!) and we also went to visit Canterbury, Whitstable, Herme Bay & Margate. We would fully recommend staying at The Old Kent Barn & we also hope to return there.

This is a very beautiful place to stay. People get married here, what better recommendation can you get? Crisp sheets, a white gazebo, a deep bath, a sleep like a coma then wake to the smell of home made bread. The hosts made us laugh, there were baby birds in the pond and the countryside is lovely. We had a three hour walk through rolling hills and never saw one Tesco, which in South East England is quite an achievement. You do need a car as it's a bit off the beaten track but in a nice way. It's easy to find, spotlessly clean, pretty garden, tennis court and... well, you get the idea. Honestly, you'd be stark raving bonkers NOT to stay here. Robert of Ramsgate.

The Old Kent Barn is a very beautiful 200 year old building with some of the beams 250 years old taken from a ship so as you can imagine not very straight, but what character they give! As you enter the barn you cant help but go wow. We stayed in a very tasteful, spotlessly clean, extremely well finished and good quality king sized bedroom. Lovely corner bath in bathroom. Greeted by Roger, with tray of tea on minstrels gallery overlooking large garden. Lots of info from Roger regarding eating out and things to do and see. Cookies and drinks available to help yourself to throughout day in the gallery, also hospitality tray in bedroom. Met Hilary later - lovely lady and she provides a really gorgeous breakfast, home made bread, a proper english breakfast with fruit, cereal, yogurts, and very good quality local produce - sausages and bacon, and not mean with the quantity! She will also serve smoked salmon if you wish. They have two soppy friendly dogs, which some german children who were staying there wanted to take back to germany. Suitable for romantic couples, but also families as the family room is large and separate from the double rooms. Sorry if I sound too enthusiastic, but cant praise this accommodation up too much, really sorry to leave after 3 nights stay in October.
