“A Wonderful Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2009

We enjoyed our stay here very much. Mary and Leo made us feel very welcome at their home. We were told the history of the house, which was quite interesting. The breakfast was great, and they were very flexible with the menu. The restaurants and pubs were just a quick walk away. Our room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The outside of the building was beautiful with the ivy turning a deep red. (It also made it VERY easy to find the B&B)
Our only complaint was that since we live in the country, we are not used to hearing cars (even when we closed the shutters and curtains). Others that stayed while we were there live in the suburbs, but they did not notice the noise. It was not too bad, and would not be something that would prevent us from staying with them again.
We had a great time and look forward to returning.

“Wonderful house with first rate welcome, hospitality and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2009

Wonderful accomodation for those seeking a relaxing time by the river Blackwater. We had a wonderfuly room with all modern amenities in an old traditional town house.
The town of Fermoy has a history and present worth absorbing. Wonderful walks along the riverbank and fishing for those who like to relax by an open river.

“Excelent, clean, friendly, better than good food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2009

On arrival we were given a very friendly welcome by Mary, our hostess.
Host Leo was equally friendly and helped with maps, directions and suggestions for places to visit.
The room was large and clean as was the en-suite.
Breakfasts were excellent and provided us with energy for the days' travels.
We found Fermoy to be an interesting town and a good central point to explore to Kilkenny and Waterford in the east and Limerick, Kilarney and Bantry in the west.
Fermoy has several restaurants including French, Italian and Chinese (among others).
If you stay ask Leo to tell you about the views from the local reservoir, the ancient burial stones or the Blackwater River swimming club events.

We enjoyed our 7 night stay immensely and would heartily recommend Virginia House.
Thanks to Mary and Leo.

“Home from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2008

If you want home from home, then this place is it! Leo and Mary are two of the most hospitable people I have ever met. The B&B is clean and tidy, the beds are comfy.

The breakfast is out of this world! Now I know what the deffinition of a hearty Irish breakfast is! Mary almost run her legs off making sure we had enough to eat. If you are vegetarian, don't worry, Mary is more than prepared to change your breakfast to suit your dietry requirements - thankfully! As much as I was told by my lot that the Black Pudding tasted lovely, there was no way it was going past my lips that's for sure!

My visit was for sad reasons, to bury my mum, but Mary & Leo's humour and hospitality sure helped at a sad time. Leo could tell you all about the local wildlife etc, which we lapped up and more, we were in our element.

Some of us noticed the traffic outside, and some didn't, in my case I think the Cork Gin might have helped some there!

We almost didn't want to leave, I think Leo had to kick us out the door and take the keys back off us incase we didn't ;O)
