I stayed in this hotel on the MCI Walking Week end recently. The twin room was spacious, The staff were friendly , the food was excellent and the entertainment was authentic good irish music coupled with sean nos dancing which I thoroughly enjoyed. The welcome I received would encourage me to return again at some time in the future.

Stayed there for a night with my family. First thing I noticed was how rude and unpleasant the reception staff were. A rather tubby blond lady especially. We went to have a drink in the lounge area - it was freezing, a huge fireplace sat empty. Went into the restaurant and it was freezing there too. Had to ask for the heat to be turned on. The meal when it arrived came without veg and potatoe - had to ask for these to be delivered - had the fillet stake and was shocked to find that the only veg available was Garlic Cabbage ! The main course at €25 was very over priced especially when the veg was so limited. When the coffee arrived (before the desert) - it was cold. Anyway returned to oour rooms after dinner - only place to keep warm. Next morning I had to disturb the lovely blond receptionist from her breakfast to check out. I nearly had a heart attack when she showed me the bill €750 for four adults and four young children - I debated that this was correct and it got reduced to €550 and finally to €280 - Not too sure how such a mistake could be made - but I would advise other patrons beware and check your bill carefully. Bottom line - the rudest hotel staff I have come accross in my time - and I have stayed in a lot of hotels world wide. The kindof place where you get the feeling that you are intruding on the staffs time. Not recommended.

went in November for my wedding anniversary. Got a great deal 4 nights b&b with three 5 course dinners £125. We took other reviewers advice and upgraded to the new wing of the hotel.
Hotel was clean and because of the time of year very quiet. The scenery from our room was breathtaking. The food was excellent and the staff were all very friendly. Had a conversation with 1 of the owners who came across as a down to earth guy.
Tried the adjoining seaweed baths and would recommend them. will definitely return again. This part of connemara is beautiful.My wife is ceoliac and the chef and waiting staff catered for us well.

This hotel was in a great location, clean room, our room had a view of the fjord. The rooms are older but seem to have been remodeled. They keep their historic charm and antique furniture. We soaked at the seaweed baths next door (the spa/baths building adjacent to the hotel is not a very attractive building, it's a garish and weather worn bright blue, but it is beautiful inside). We then ate a really great early meal in the bar area and enjoyed drinks before hanging out in front of the fire in the great room while it rained outside. Overall a good experience. We were on the old side of the hotel, which is great for folks who love old historic hotels.
