“Relax - Not!”

Sorry this review is late.
Like the previous reviewer I stayed here two years ago and loved it. Sadly after returning in March of this year, I said my final good bye to Powerscourt.

The pool area is in need of serious renovations - several little tiles in the steam room had fallen off and there was a moldy smell. The whole area had a grubby feel to it. The shower only had warm water. When I brought this to the attention of a staff member, she checked it and agreed. She then went on to explain that it was probably meant to be so, as it could be dangerous to take a cold shower after the sauna or steam room!

The once comfortable and inviting lounge has been replaced by a clinic style waiting room, the wide screen plasma TV has been removed so to have big comfy couches...

The little extras, like the sample face creams are no longer available. As for the watered down orange juice (as mentioned in the previous review) it also has joined the faithful departed...

I found the staff were not as helpful or as friendly (to say the least) as they were during my previous stay.
It was not the Powerscourt I had remembered - the pleasant and relaxing atmosphere was no longer there.

This will be my fourth year to treat myself to a 2 night stay in Powerscourt Springs. It has become an annual event that I look forward to (Live for!!) There are 4 of us, myself, my sister, who live in Co. Offaly and a friend and her sister who travel from England every year. It is a piece of heaven on earth, the food is divine, fresh produce, some from their own herb garden, and if you want low fat, low salt etc versions all you need to do is let them know, but if you just order from the menu, expect to be delighted with the variety and a quality and presentation I have yet to see matched at any of the hotels I have stayed in. You certainly will not go hungry, tea and coffee, water, biscuits and fruit all at hand 24/7. We only had 1 minor complaint regarding a treatment and it was dealt more than favourably. I have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and the biggest problem you'll have is choosing from the choice of treatments. All of which are divine. I actually dozed off in the tranquality room last year, just as well my friend came looking for me or I would still be there! I am just an ordinary working class person who has to save her euros to go there once a year, I have never felt uncomfortable there, and considering my husband spends on a months cigarettes to harm his health, what I pay for my trip, which is better than any visit to the doctor, it is value for money in my eyes! Roll on 23rd of August 2006!!!!!!!!!

“Very Impressed”

Well it was out girls weekend away. We had planned it for the past 3 months so we were all so excited to be escaping the madness of our daily lives! We arrived down to be welcomed by their friendly staff & shown to our rooms. We were a group of 8 but they manages to keep us all together which was brilliant! The rooms were bright & homely & the views we just amazing & not a sound to be heard (apart from the birds outside!)

Our treatments began that evening which were truely amazing. I have the most amazing treatment called the Honey & Almond Polish. It was an exfoliant but also a wrap all in one. It smelt so delicious i could have eaten it! My skin was glowing afterwards!

The dinner was just out of this world. No such thing as healthy food! (in a good way) It was just yummy. Also one of the girls had a special diet requirement which was no problem to the staff & she was looked after very well.

The following day we all decided to join in with the classes. They were all at a beginners level but we all felt like we had done a work out after the aqua aerobics! There is an amazing clas called Scentao which is a self massage class. You use an aromatherapy oil & the instructor shows you where to work on the pressure points on your head & feet.

As for the tranquility room, it is just such a fabolus spot! Every house should have one. The gardnes looked wonderful but sadly we were unable to use them as it was not such a nice day & was lashing rain for most of the weekend!

So i would reccommend Powerscourt to anyone & it really is an amazing place to switch off form the real world!

“A perfect haven of tranquility”

Having earmarked time away from husbands and kids for some quality time together, myself and my friend booked in for a Pampering Day in Powerscourt.

The countryside that surrounds it is so beautiful that we had started to relax before we even arrived! The athmosphere was lovely, intimate and relaxing..

It was a perfect day! We had various treatments, such as massage, facial - and my favourite - a paraffin wax pedicure.. In between - we relaxed in the Tranquility Room.. By lunchtime, we both felt relaxed, and happy..

Contrary to my expectations, lunch was not resticted and meagre... instead we enjoyed a feast of delicious food, with a lovely bottle of wine..

We went home feeling like we'd been on a week's holidays...

I couldn't recommend it more!

“would not be returning”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 March 2006

I stayed in Powerscourt Springs two years ago and had a wonderful experience. I returned in February of this year and found everything very tired. The beautiful freshly squeezed juice you got on arrival has been replaced by regular watered down juice. The corridors and open areas are in need of paint. We had a problem with a leaking toilet in our bedroom that seeped out into the carpet in the main area during the night. The most neglected part of the contents I felt was the beautiful aquarium in the relaxation room. This has been left without any care or attention and apart from the odd tree that seemed to have uprooted itself and floated to the top, all of the lovely stones were just completely covered in a greed scum, no one has been near this tank in a long time. The pool area is not the greatest and when the water settles you can see a layer of oil along the top and a lot of 'stuff' floating in the water. Where the wall of the jacuzzi borders the pool there is another layer of green scum that would clean off very well if someone attended to it. Although breakfast did not end until 9.30 am, on our arrival at 9.00 am some items were gone and no more were available which I thought was quite poor, considering one of these items was bread. The treatment rooms need updating and on one of my treatments there was no heating in the radiator and the room was quite chilly. Powerscourt Springs was always considered to be an upmarket, luxurious, self indulgent treat that does not come cheap by any means
but it would need an complete overhaul before I would consider returning in the future.

As we are always endeavouring to maintain and to improve our standards of customer care, we welcome all feedback from our guests. On my behalf of management I regret that we did not get to discuss the clients dissatisfaction on a one-to-one basis. It is very, very rare to get complaints such as this. Whilst we appreciate that this particular did not enjoy their experience as much as they had on a previous visit,I'd like to point out that over the past two years we have upgraded the entire facility, and added new relaxation areas like the Sensory Garden. One of the areas that always excels in the opinion of our clients is the Restaurant, where the cuisine served is both bountiful and delicious. Finally with regard to overall service, this is something we pride ourselves in and always go out of our way to ensure our clients enjoy every minute of their stay.
