“No problem recommending Craglea lodge to others”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

Stayed here over the bank holiday weekend. Would find it hard to find anywhere better for the price. Lovely big room (far more space than a hotel room), very clean and bright. Full Irish breakfast in thre morning to keep you going all day.
The host Edel was a lovely lady and took care of us very well.
Very good B&B, could not fault it.

“highly recommended to all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2010

We had a lovely stay at the Craglea Lodge B&B and could not fault our stay at all.
Lovely clean, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast. It only takes a few minutes to walk down to the Main Street and beach.
We found the proprietor welcoming and very friendly and would recommend this B&B to everyone

“Not great”

I recently stayed at Craglea Lodge and was not impressed Upon arrival there was no one there a note was left on the door telling us to call to one of the shops in lahinch to collect a key so we ventured down town to the shop and asked if there was a key left for us but unfortunately there was not ,the people in the shop were very helpful and advised to stay around town for an hour or two and call back and they will try and get a key for us. In the meantime the owner of Craglea Lodge contacted me to know what time I would be checking in and I explained the situation to her, She then told me that she would be working until 9pm with her other job and to give her a ring when we were outside the house and she would get someone to let us in and check us in for the night.
I rang her when we were outside the house and she sent someone to let us in now the person she sent was a girl no more that 14 years of age and she showed us around the house and booked us in for the night. The house was nice room was lovely too, two things I didnt like were when I had a shower the water stayed in the shower tray I taught at one stage it was going to overflow on to the floor and also there was a horrible musty smell of the towels.

We ventured down town for the night and when we were leaving the house we finally met the host who told us that she would not be around for breakfast in the morning as she had to work with her other job she then advised us to have the correct change for payment in the morning which I found very unusual. The breakfast the following morning was fine but there was 6 of us at the table with 4 getting there breakfast straight away while 2 of us had to wait another 10-15 mins for ours so all and all I dont think I will be back to Craglea lodge.

“Nice house, pity about the Proprietor”

The B&B is a short walk from the centre of Lahinch, and the rooms are clean, although the towels did have a mustly smell off of them, as if the room had not been used in quite a while. The breakfast was also lovely. My main concern is the hospitality received here. Like the other person whose review appears here, the proprietor was not home when I got there and I was told to collect my key at her brothers shop. After a lot of confustion, and a good long wait I eventually got in. After eventually meeting with the Proprietor, I was shocked. I think it was obvious she took an instant dislike to me. I didn't like her attitude at all. She has another job as a nurse, so I think she should have somebody permanently taking care of the B&B and stay out of this side of the business as she definitely does not have a personality for it.

“Nice location, views of ocean, great breakfast”

The sign for the B&B is right on the roadside on the south side of the town. It is located about 3 blocks from the town center. The driveway is long and so the house is located somewhat behind other houses that are right on the main road. This is disconcerting when you approach, however, several rooms have a good view from either their transom/skylight window or another window. Even our bathroom had a slanted skylight with a good view of the town. Our bed was a good sized full (probably equivalent to an Irish Queen bed). We had everything we wanted for our room, with the exception of toiletries (which seems to be common for Ireland B&Bs now). Each of the three bedrooms our family booked had their own keys, bathrooms and TVs. Not much for channel availability--just four and 2 were Irish speaking channels. But we hardly watched it. Enjoyed walking into town in the morning after a good hearty Irish breakfast. The proprietor was unavailable when we first arrived, but told us how to get the key from her brother's shop in town. This was a bit disconcerting since it was our first Ireland B&B situation. And when we had questions for her upon arrival we had no idea when we could contact her. It wasn't until the next morning at breakfast. She has another job as a nurse, so is very busy. If you like time to talk with your B&B proprietor, then this is something to keep in mind.

  • Liked — Views of ocean from skylights, cheerful decor and dining area.
  • Disliked — no sitting room, proprietor too busy
