“Beautiful grounds but hotel is dated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed there in February 2012. The castle exterior and grounds were spectacular. We didn't play golf but I would love to there. The inside of the property was much more dated. The rooms and public areas could definitely use some updating. I think the biggest disappointment was the restaurant. What claimed to be award winning was probably our least favorite meals on the trip at the highest prices.

“This place is beautiful!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

This was a truly beautiful place! The grounds are wonderfully manicured and I highly recommend the hawk walk. Where else would you be able to go on a walk with a falconry expert that lets you learn about these wonderful birds and they get to land on your hand too. The staff was wonderful, going out of their way to help you with even the smallest requests. Be prepared to spend some money, but it is a truly memorable place!!!

Room Tip: The floors in the castle are wood, so you can hear people walking down the hall past your room. If...

“Spectacular exterior rooms average”

When you drive towards Dromoland it is very impressive (being a castle), staff are courteous and helpful. On downside bar is small and expensive as is the snack menu. If you are a golfer I would imagine it is a wonderful place as they have a golf club away from the main castle and the course looks good.

The rooms were ok, but astounded that there were no tea and coffee making facilities available in the room and I would imagine the cost of room service just to grab a coffee would be prohibitive.

Some of the grandeur of the castle is lost with suspended ceilings in eating areas. Another bar might be a plan as everything bar dining room et. all pushed into one corner of the hotel.

It is a truly lovely place but I think it could be improved.

“Magical MLK Weekend At Dromoland Castle”

We knew this would be an amazing weekend when we were told that we had the "Rapunzel Room" Room 501 in the castle tower! After 78 steps we entered a our room which was magnificent and really helped us take off calories after the wonderful dining we did at this spectacular hotel! I can't say enough about the professional, warm, helpful and attentive staff.
Breakfast was outstanding and made a great start to our day of touring and returning to the magnificent landscape of our nights stay. The best day was touring of the grounds and soaking in all that Dromoland Castle has to offer. The cart & trap carriage ride with Shawn was a highlight of our trip, sharing the history of the castle hotel and sharing his genuine pride of town & country.
Kudos to all the staff, at Dromoland Castle ,for making our stay the trip of royalty for two commoners.

Room Tip: If you have the legs...Room 501! The staff will take care of your suitcases but it is a hike up win...

“Absolute Heaven, what a hotel and great service !”

Stayed her on Saturday just gone, we got a free upgrade because it was our wedding anniversary. From the minute we entered the hotel till we left, the service was excellent and the staff were more than happy to help with anything and very polite. Was really nice feeling to be treated like royalty.

The castle itself is beautiful and the grounds are also amazing. The facilties are great with a pool, jacuzzi, and steam room. A fine golf course also.

Restaurant was charming and service was out of this world.

Receptionists were very nice and allowed us to check out late.

Our room was also fantastic, 309, in front of the lake. Nice detail and very unique.

Would like to thank the staff of Dromoland for making my experience truly amazing!

Room Tip: 309 is the best few, was amazing
