“Traditional Irish pub with great food ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2011

What a find!

The host Robert, greeted us with genuine smile and chatted to us throughout the evening (we were in the pub section and wanted an evening meal). The menu was varied and traditional and the food was obviously freshly cooked to order. The mashed potatoes that came with the meal were so fabulous we had to ask how they were prepared!

The Guiness was thick and tasty and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Would highly recommend this pub.

“Great Stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 April 2011

Kathleen and Robert were great hosts. Robert in the restaurant and Kathleen made the best breakfast. Fantastic coffee as well. It was our anniversary and they made it extra special. Can't beat the value for a great nights sleep in County Clare.

“Expensive, and disappointing!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2010

Avoid room 2, next to the laundry room (laundry was cleaned overnight as we tried to sleep. Rooms were very small and basic. Bath needs updating. Breakfast was minimal. Adjacent restraunt had corned beef, cabbage & bacon both nights we were there. Nice bar, but food was expensive and bland for what was offered. Nice sitting room and breakfast room...

“First trip to Ireland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2010

Hunters Lodge was our first and only reservation on our 10 day road trip / adventure through the West coast of Ireland. The proprietors (Robert & Kathleen) were gracious and accomodating.
The food was surpisingly good (we did not know what to expect).
The bar area at night offered varied personalities was fun enough for us. The location is quaint with beautiful farm like scenes. The Lodge itself sits right on the main thoroughfare, but we did not experience anything bad because of it.
The pints went down smooth with Robert at the helm!
The perfect location, close enough to the airport and yet in between other touristy areas.
My husband and myself would gladly come back again, and make sure we stay at least one night in Hunters lodge.
Thanks much
Dave & Maggie

“WOW!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2010

What can I say... I felt at home from the second we walked into the place!

We stayed at the hunter's lodge while attending a wedding in nearby Dromoland recently. We arrived on Fri evening and had dinner in the bar next door (it is all the one business).
The food was typical pub grub but absolutely delicious, and the service was friendly and warm. and the prices were soooo good after being in the city! We even got to know a few of the locals!!!!
Breakfast the next morning was fresh from the grill and the coffee was AMAZING!!
The rooms are beautifully decorated with restful colours and fab beds. There are tea/coffee trays, flat screen t.v. FREE wi fi, hairdryers and the showers had a great kick!! (just what we needed the morning after the wedding!!!)

This is a great place to stay for a 'home away from home' feeling. We would highly recommend it if you are visiting Co. Clare for any reason, RobertKathleen and the staff there was just amazing and do everything to make you feel both at home and get you whatever you want!
great place!!
