It was our last night in Ireland. Our GPS couldn't find Bunratty Meadows, so we found ourselves back on the main drag through Bunratty looking for signs to the B&B. We found the signs, and followed them without incident towards the Shannon River to Bunratty Meadows.
We unloaded our things in the room, and headed out to the car to get some dinner in town. The engine had started, we put ourselves in reverse to get out of the parking space when....our host came running out of the building, and implored us to stop the car. She noticed that we had a flat tire, and had we kept driving, we would have ruined the rims!
She called her husband to help us with the car - the Car Rental place had the lug nuts on so tight that we couldn't get them off with man-power. My husband and her husband each took turns jumping on the jack to loosen the nuts to no avail. The only thing that happened was the jack bent.
We decided to call their version of AAA, and wait - but they would hear nothing of it. They insisted that we call a cab, go into town, enjoy our last night in Ireland. We left our car keys with the hosts, they waited for AAA, and handled everything while we went out to get some dinner. It was a blessing in disguise - we both got to drink and relax a little bit since we had cab service both ways, and ended up having a great story about our last night in Ireland :)
The next morning, our host was up early cooking away. She made us breakfast at 7:00 instead of the standard 8:30 (so we could make our early flight). She was so helpful, nice, and the food was very good.
I loved that there is a computer for guests to use, and a printer that you can print your tickets to Shannon Airport on. There is also an iPod dock in the bedrooms, which was a nice touch. We got to listed to some podcasts together instead of plugging in our head sets and listening to things independently.
They are 10 minutes from Shannon Airport. If we go to Ireland again, we will definitely use their services again.
