We had our Civil Partnership Ceremony and reception in the Leixlip House Hotel on Monday, 29th August 2011 and choosing this hotel was one of the best decisions we had made. From our first meeting to our Big Day they made the organisation of the day run more smoothly than either of us could ever have hoped or expected. Ours was the first Civil Partnership (same sex wedding) that the hotel had catered for and I was a bit apprehensive when we approached them. I need not have worried as the staff and management could not have been more helpful especially Thelma, our wedding co-ordinator.
Leixlip House is a beautiful Georgian house. It is not a modern “chain” hotel so prevalent in Ireland today. It is, however, a hotel full of charm and when you sit in the reception area you can easily imagine yourself as lord or lady of the manor in bygone days. The bedrooms have the same essence; the furniture is antique (not flat pack) and our bed comfortable. We sat at the bedroom windows looking out at our guests arriving and I could easily picture someone, years ago, watching horse drawn carriages arrive instead of cars. My brother-in-law is from Germany and was taken aback by the bedrooms. He took photographs of several to show his friends as he thought the rooms were great.
The service we received at the hotel was second to none. Each and every staff member made both us, and our guests, feel special. The day ran so smoothly that we had little to do except turn up and enjoy the day. The food at the reception was, as one guest said to me, “simply divine”. We had sirloin steak and the salmon as the main courses. I spoke to several guests after as to how their steaks were – there was no complaints what so ever. They were not being polite either – the guests I spoke to are usually hard to please people and do not hesitate to speak their minds!
Some of our guests had lunch in the hotel on the day and said the food was also excellent. My father-in-law is still talking about the sea food platter he had!!
We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Leixlip House Hotel and our guests have said the same.
