“Clean and Comfortable - Great Food!”

This was a business trip and I ended up working most of the time I was in Leixlip. The Leixlip House was a nice respite at the end of a long day. The room was clean and comfortable, albeit the furniture was older and a little worn. The TV screen was laptop computer sized, which was almost comical. The sitting area in the lobby was inviting with a fire burning in the fireplace, a warm friendly place to hang out and chat with the locals having tea. What I enjoyed most about the Leixlip House was the fabulous food! After an exceptionally long day at work, I looked forward to a delicious dinner prepared in the kitchen and of course accompanied by a pint of Guiness. The Irish hamburger was one meal that particularly sticks in my memory as being one of the best I've ever had! And one night when I arrived from work particularly late and was told the cook had left for the night, the manager went into the kitchen and prepared me a delicious sandwich and salad and did not charge me for the meal!

“Fabulous hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

We had our Civil Partnership Ceremony and reception in the Leixlip House Hotel on Monday, 29th August 2011 and choosing this hotel was one of the best decisions we had made. From our first meeting to our Big Day they made the organisation of the day run more smoothly than either of us could ever have hoped or expected. Ours was the first Civil Partnership (same sex wedding) that the hotel had catered for and I was a bit apprehensive when we approached them. I need not have worried as the staff and management could not have been more helpful especially Thelma, our wedding co-ordinator.
Leixlip House is a beautiful Georgian house. It is not a modern “chain” hotel so prevalent in Ireland today. It is, however, a hotel full of charm and when you sit in the reception area you can easily imagine yourself as lord or lady of the manor in bygone days. The bedrooms have the same essence; the furniture is antique (not flat pack) and our bed comfortable. We sat at the bedroom windows looking out at our guests arriving and I could easily picture someone, years ago, watching horse drawn carriages arrive instead of cars. My brother-in-law is from Germany and was taken aback by the bedrooms. He took photographs of several to show his friends as he thought the rooms were great.
The service we received at the hotel was second to none. Each and every staff member made both us, and our guests, feel special. The day ran so smoothly that we had little to do except turn up and enjoy the day. The food at the reception was, as one guest said to me, “simply divine”. We had sirloin steak and the salmon as the main courses. I spoke to several guests after as to how their steaks were – there was no complaints what so ever. They were not being polite either – the guests I spoke to are usually hard to please people and do not hesitate to speak their minds!
Some of our guests had lunch in the hotel on the day and said the food was also excellent. My father-in-law is still talking about the sea food platter he had!!
We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Leixlip House Hotel and our guests have said the same.

“A glorified b&b”

I think this hotel needs to review it's pricing policy. We decided to upgrade to a "deluxe" room but were horrified to see a smaller than normal room which was of b&b standard at best with cheap furniture and a view of a the side of a portacabin. I think the hotel takes advantage of a captive clientele attending weddings. Reception were polite and welcoming, however, after checking in, a male staff member indifferently watched me struggle across the car park in held with my heavy bag.
As a wedding venue it was fine and nicely laid out but for the main course steak no one was asked how they liked it cooked - all assumed to be medium well!

“would not recommend”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2011

do not stay in rooms over the kitchen, I was offered room 209, the kitchen extractor fan gives a very high noise level in this room. When I complained they gave me a room out via the fire exit to another building. Another reviewer talked about this room and I agree, I banged my head on the low ceiling of a covered up stair case! very pooky. The meal I had was very low standard and very bland. WifI did not work on my Iphone. It took ages to pay the bill at reception and then suddenly a hand written one appeared! and to boot they had run out of staplers to attache the bill and credit card receipt... not very professional

Room Tip: avoid rooms above the kitchen or outside

“Great place for a family function”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2011

Stayed as part of a wedding anniversary party. Staff were very helpful and friendly. room was spacious and clean. breakfast had a good selection available. The whole group thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was a great night and the hotel really helped make it happen. They provided a projector and allowed us play our own music till our dj arrived. Thanks to all.
