This is a spectacular place! It’s rather remote, but well worth the drive (it’s probably difficult to get there without a car). We received an upgrade without asking for it and tea and cakes when arriving. Everyone was very kind and helpful. The rooms downstairs where fabulous with a fireplace, nice (authentic) furniture, interesting books and classical music. The three-course dinner turned out to be a five course one. The dishes were small but nice (French style food), although somewhat overrated.

Traveling in Ireland Oct of 2011, we booked a 2 night stay at Gregan's Castle in Galway area, and were so delighted that it exceeded our hopes. The staff were great and attentive, the dining was such a gourmet experience, and the room was so lovely, traditional with antiques, yet modern bath-great combination! Grounds were lovely to wwalk even in the Irish Mist, as they call it, and was so fun to find boots and umbrellas provided to continue to enjoy our stay, regardless of weather. Loved coming into the study and bar area, and have a good Irish coffee and cocktail with healthy portions of spirits to warm us up. Logistically, there is so much to see from this location, and having our own rental car, we almost saw it all. Wish we had stayed another day at this wonderful hotel. A great time of year to go Sept-Oct, miss all the crowds, and have super one on one service everywhere you go.

From the reviews on Tripadvisor I expected the beautiful hotel but I was so disappointed I felt like leaving early.
Our room decor was beautiful but I noticed mouse droppings on the closet floor as soon as I arrived. While I tried to convince myself that they were old I could never get the thought out of my head that there might be mice in the room.

I couldn't fault the service or hospitality but I just felt uncomfortable for the entire night.
I didn;t complain I just won't return.
Never again.

My partner and I have just spent a glorious night at Gregans Castle and from the moment we walked in the door you can see why they have won so many awards this year The food was without doubt the best we have tasted in a very long time. We opted for the seven course menu and although at first one might think the portions were small , after the 5th we found ourselves wondering how we were ever going to fit in 6 & 7. . In fact 7 did defeat us , a beautiful selection of spectacularly hand crafted petite four’s . Our waitress very kindly offered to box them up for us to take home , when the box arrived back to the table it was just a continuation of the standards of presentation of this meal from beginning to end, purely spectacular. As a previous review said the Michelin has got to be just around the corner. Gregans is a fabulous hideaway, waking in our gorgeous , extremely spacious and comfortable room the following morning to a wonderful breakfast and spectacular view. The peace and quiet of the place and the unobtrusive service with a smile just made Gregans for us one of Irelands truly great Blue Book Country Houses.
