“Too noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2009

When we arrived at the hotel, the lobby smelt very bad but the employees were very friendly and helpfull, the most important is: they speak french. The bathroom and the room were clean. But the air-conditioner was TOO NOISY. That night was a nightmare. If we turned on the air conditioner, we can't sleep because it's too noisy but if we turned it off and open the window, it was too hot in the room and next to the hotel, there was a train. In around the midnight there was a big family passed in the corridor and they make a lot of noise because the babies. What a bad night.....

“Great for Young Kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2008

I stayed at PresDuLac every couple of years with my parents, and now I'm staying here every couple of years with my children! So the hotel is not new. However, they do update periodically and everything in our room in the main building was of good quality.

This hotel offers lots of free extras for families: there are 6 paddleboats, with lifejackets, which can be used for free on the small duck pond. An adult must accompany a child under 12. Two of the paddleboats looked brand new.

There is a small asphalt minigolf with putters and balls available free to loan from the front desk.

There is a small concrete shuffleboard with disks. They were a bit chipped, but the kids loved it anyway.

There is a playground with swings, climber, slides.

There is also a spacious sandbox with shovels and buckets provided by the hotel.

Inside, there is a swimming pool.

It can rain in late afternoon in New Brunswick, but we had clear weather and used everything both after we arrived and again the next morning.

The restaurant is good, very bright, very pleasant. The grilled haddock was still great, but the pastry isn't quite as light as it used to be.

The hotel is currently affiliated with the Quality chain. In the past it has been a Best Western and it often is private.

There are some small cottages around the duck pond, too.

There is not much road noise, as the new highway has bypassed Grand Falls (also called Grand Sault in French, as New Brunswick is fully bilingual in French and English). There is a train track nearby, however we didn't hear any trains at night. The track is not heavily used.

We did not need to use the air conditioning or heat, so I do not know if they are loud or not.

Personally, I will stay here again.

“Près du Lac a good choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2006

Ended up staying for one night at the Auberge Pres du Lac (Best Western was full). Overall, the room was fine (if not for a noisy AC unit) and clean (windows can be opened). The beds were quite good, and the bathroom up to specs. They even have free WIFI, which is very handy for the travelling bunch. Service was very good (added a cot and put our icepacks in their freezer with a smile). The attached restaurant serves a very good hot and complete breakfast (fee), all with a smile. This is not a shiny or brand new facility, but they fulfill their duties quite nicely. Would go back.
