Gerry and Aoife are both wonderfully friendly and welcoming. The farmhouse is lovely, and makes a great B&B. The guest lounge with turf fire was cosy and warm, and the reference library was superb - better than anywhere else on this trip. It was so helpful to be able to identify wildflowers we had seen, and to learn about the area. Aoife made some great suggestions, notably a wonderful 15km walk, and a visit to the Burren Perfumery, which is a terrific place. The room was comfortable, and we slept well.
I'd have loved to give this five stars, but there are just a few less positive aspects. There were no toiletries in the bathroom; as we'd had to edit our luggage right down to meet Ryanair baggage restrictions, we'd not brought shampoo or shower gel, relying on their being provided (as they were in every other place we stayed in Ireland). And although breakfast was fine, it didn't inspire the same superlatives from us that it has from other reviewers. A single piece of brown bread cut into two; toast made from standard supermarket sliced bread; individual blister packs of industrial "jam", rather than something local (the Burren Jam Shop is just down the road) - unfortunately this felt more motel than farmhouse B&B. Maybe it's the economic situation.
These are small details, but it's the detail that makes the difference between the good and the exceptional. I'd certainly go back, mind you, as the location is fabulous and the hosts so very friendly.
