lovely food, great choice of menu - great value - one lady who works evenings (dont know her name) but she is a credit to the hotel -- she is so nice & pleasant - takes an interest in the customer.

I was at a wedding in Gort and stayed in this hotel. The hotel is a typical old-style Irish hotel. My room was big, with a double and a single, even though I only had it for single occupancy.
Most importantly, breakfast was served til 12 (and I'd say possibly after that if you wanted it), and you could order anything on the menu (fry, bagels, scones, etc).

Having recently spent a couple of nights in a 4-star Galway city centre hotel, I arrived at Sullivan's with pretty low expectations on what I would find. But what a pleasant surprise. It was difficult to fault the hotel or its staff at this price range. The room was spacious and spotless, the food was basic in choice but of a good standard, and the hotel staff could not have been more helpful and hospitable. Gort is a good stopping place for those touring - close enough for a trip into Galway city and gateway to the spectacular beauty of County Clare. The hotel is located right in the centre of this lively town. I will cetainly go back to this hotel.

I was at a wedding in Gort and booked into Sullivans for the weekend. I was a bit apprehensive after the terrible review but it was cheap and it was only for the weekend and we didn't intend to be there long so we took a chance. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and our room was large, newly renovated with a plasma tv and good shower, so far so good.
The morning after the wedding we had the full Irish breakfast which was very nice and after doing some touring around the Burren we came back and had our evening meal which was great value for money.
Overall it was an enjoyable stay , the hotel is old and getting an actual key for your room is a bit of a novelty nowadays but it has a bit of character which is lacking in a lot of the newly built generic hotels. The only problem was the colour of the water but mineral water was provided in the rooms for tea and coffee and brushing teeth so I would recommend anyone to stay here and enjoy real Irish hospitality, it isn't 5 star its more like staying in a friends house.
