Look no further than the Commodore Hotel to explore the beautiful town of Cobh, which is steeped in history and tradition. Few hotels can boast the beautiful views that the Commodore can. Our room was on front of the hotel, and had a beautiful view of the harbour and Spike Island. The room was tastefully decorated and contained everything that we required for a comfortable stay. It was like "Home from Home". The reception staff, gave us a very nice welcome. We had been very fortunate to get a "flash deal" on the internet, which meant we got the room for two nights at a ridiculously low price, we couldnt believe our luck!. We were then able to pay a supplement to upgrade to a seaview room for a small extra cost. The Commodore have a small carpark around the back. You pay a deposit of 20 euro for the key, which is refunded to you upon it's return. We also had breakfast on both mornings, for 8.50 each, which consisted of cereals, yogurts, juices, breads and a full Irish buffet, teas, coffees etc., which we found to be quite adequate. The lunch menu is fantastic and varys from Soup & Sandwiches, paninis, roast of the day, pies, fish, steak, chicken, curry, salads, etc. (something to suit everyones taste), and at a very reasonable price. The bar is also very comfortable, and on the weekend has entertainment, there was a guy on a keyboard in the reception area, which seemed to attract the older generation and in the maritime bar another guy on a guitar, who seemed more geared towards the younger people. On one of the evenings, the bar was quite busy and we did have a small upsetting incident with one of the young part-time barman. However, the incident was dealt with very professionally by bar manager Sabrina and duty manager Eoghan. Although the incident did put a little bit of a dampner on our weekend, it wouldnt put us off returning to the Commodore in the future. If i could give one piece of advice to the owners of the Commodore, it would be to ensure that the very young staff, who are possibly still at school/college are all given training in basic customer services skills, no matter how small their role may be in the hotel as everything they say or do contributes to the overall image your customer has of your hotel.
