“Extremely helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I have never stayed in accomodation but I do have a wonderfull memories of listening to a piano receital played during the chamber music festival (check out the programme if you plan to vist during the summer). The gardens are beatiful and the libary lent a tone of elegance to the concert. More recently I was making inquiries into bookings and found the staff helpful, friendly and super prompt in replying. All round for setting and staff a big thumbs up.

“Wonderful Experience!”

I've read many of the reviews of Bantry House and I agree with all the good things that have been written.

I traveled with my mother who has an incredible green thumb and love of gardens. We booked last minute and only stayed one night, nevertheless, we were warmly welcomed and everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful.

My mother can't walk very far and the stairs were a bit of a problem, but the view from our room was fantastic! The room was cozy and comfortable. We opened the windows and sat on the windowsills to enjoy a panoramic view over the garden.

Sophie recommended a great restaurant for us that evening and even though we seemed to be the only people staying at the house that night, there was a fire in the fireplace. And, the next morning the breakfast buffet was full on.

From the accommodation wing a door leads guests directly into the library of the big house, so we were able to do our "touring" the next morning without walking too far or needing to load up into the car.

I wish we had chosen Bantry House as one of the bases for our 3 week trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the gardens!

“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

I travelled to Ireand to do a beekeeping day with Tim Rowe (Rose Beehives) at Ballylickey. I stayed for one night at Bantry House and it was just as everyone has described. RIght from my first email enquiry to which I had a fast and friendly response, it was an lovely experience, The nicest thing was the warmth of the welcome.(Thanks Sophie!) As others have said in their reviews, it feels very comfortable and not at all pretentious but it still manages to be luxurious in a very down to earth way. My room was peaceful, my bathroom had plenty of hot water, and the breakfast was delicious.
Bantry House is all round the best place I have stayed in. Thankyou to you all.

“The absolute dream come true wedding thanks to Bantry House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

Having got engaged at Christmas and setting the date for July 30th plus the fact that we live in Dubai and had 3 days in Ireland to decide on a venue we were faced with a 'challenge'. We visited Bantry House on a very cold December day and immediately knew that this was the magical venue we had dreamt of. My fiancee had visited the house as a child and had fond memories and I was blown away as soon as I saw the house even though it was shut up for the winter. Right from the start Sophie and her father were accommodating and did everything to help us (despite the fact they were actually closed when we visited and Sophie heavily pregnant with the lovely Jacob) organise a dream wedding. The accommodation is absolutely superb and beats any 5 star hotel hands down! The breakfast amazing and the hospitality second to none. As for the wedding venue details....words really cannot describe what an amazing place this was. It really was the pinnacle of our wedding. Each and every person who was there and those who werent and have so far seen our unoffical snaps had their breath taken when they saw the venue. I cannot thank Sophie and her family and team enough. They really went over and above in terms of service and EVERY little detail was thought of (believe me I am a stickler for detail!) At the end of the evening the staff even ferried people to their hotels in their cars!!! We now have only one problem....we seem to have only one destination as an option for our July holidays for the rest of our life as my 'husband and I' could think of nowhere better to spend our anniversaries. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
