“A nice place to eat and relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

Very nice casual cafe -- we shared a pizza and chips and lemonade. Justin was baking apple crumble while we were there and we ordered one to go. Very tasty. Justin was as nice as can be and entertained us with travel stories of his own. We would have eaten there multiple times but couldn't manage to catch it open again due to the end of season fluctuating hours.

“Friendly Staff and Great value”

Myself and my partner were holidaying in Kilkenny and happened upon the stunning village of Inistioge, we found this charming restaurant facing the river and decided to pop in for dinner before going back to Kilkenny. The Staff working were funny and entertaining and full off stories about the village and it's people. I had the fish and chips and my partner had a pizza both were excellent but the best was the dessert of a baked cheesecake, all of it was a great value for money experience and we look forward to visiting it again someday.

“Rude Owner”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

We ordered coffees and scones with our two year old three days ago. When we took out some of the childs food- some crackers and cheese and a smoothie- prepared by her mother earlier in the day, food we would be certain she would eat, the owner/manager came over and scowled at the childs food. We asked if he wouldnt mind if we fed the child and he mumbled some disapproving response. We immediately cancelled our order and left. We were not going to stay in such a place were we were made so unwelcome. We went next door and were given a nice welcome. Our two year old was made very welcome. Avoid Footlights. Go next door!

“Foul Smelling Fat Fryer so we moved right next door”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

We were staying in Inistioge and following a walk in Woodstock Gardens (which is an absolute must for all visitors, walk in by the river and up to the gardens and then back towards the main gates and drop down to the village via the Lady's walk).
We went to Footlights for lunch on a sunny day and sat outside with a stunning view of the park and river in this charming village.
We were put off entirely by the foul smell of the deep fat fryer.
We ordered a quick cup of coffee which was served with efficiency and charm and left as soon as it decent to do and went right next door into the Old School House where Theresa and her staff gave us homemade bread and soup followed by delicious fresh crab and pound piling on chocolate cake like my mother used to make.
Fantastic.
