“Florence - Legend”

This place is an absolute gem and I picked Coateslands based on the reviews and its architecture. We were not disappointed. Where do I start?

Upon our arrival we were greeted by Florence, who is one of the most amazing ladies that we have had the pleasure to meet. We were shown to our comfortable room which was spotless and well appointed. Florence provided excellent advice on where to eat. We wanted a typical Irish pub meal and Florence recommended a number of places with sage advice on each.

Breakfast the next morning was one of those rare treats that you cannot plan. We met Donal at breakfast who, despite ill health, was a fantastic host. However it was Florence who stole the show. During our magnificent breakfast in one of the best laid out breakfast rooms that we have seen in any B & B, we were treated to a sparkling conversation with Florence. To say that she is an amazing lady is an understatement. Stories about her life growing up in Adare, her career and just her life in general had us enthralled. We left so much later than we had planned as we were enjoying her company so much. The food was excellent and was only complimented by the company and conversation with Florence and Donal.

We should also mention Winnie who is a very well behaved and beautiful dog.

It experiences like our stay at Coatesland House that make travelling special.

My husband and I stayed here for one evening and it was a great pleasure. It is located on the main road and just outside the lovely village of Adare. The hospitality was wonderful. The Hogan’s thought of everything. Our room was very comfortable and very clean. Florence recommended a local restaurant, which was fantastic! The next morning we were served the most fabulous breakfast. The breakfast room is gorgeous and the view of Florence’s garden was stunning. We had the pleasure of visiting with Florence and Donal, and can’t forget to mention Winnie, a very lucky dog. On our next trip to the area, we certainly will stay here again, and highly recommend it. What a GREAT experience this was.

“Best in Ireland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

We stayed at Coatesland for one night, but would have happily stayed a week longer. The hosts - Florence, Donal and of course Winnie the pooch, made us feel absolutely at home, and gave wonderful suggestions of sightseeing and dining options. We even had a choice of rooms when we arrived - all the rooms and bathrooms are decorated with such great care and has small special touches everywhere. The breakfast table has endless options and was most delicious, and the breakfast room is light and beautiful. We had an awesome chat with Florence and Donal at the breakfast table - time just flew. This was our favourite guest house on our trip through Ireland. Definitely make it part of your itinerary when touring around Limerick / Adare in Ireland.

“Absolutely Lovely!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

We thouroughly enjoyed our one night stay at Coatesland House and would have gladly spent more time there. Florence, Donal and Winnie the pup were fantastic, gracious hosts. They even tossed our wet clothes in the dryer after getting caught in a downpour earlier in the day. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Their recommendations for dinner, drinks and sights to see in town were perfect. Florence also suggested driving the Conor Pass to Dingle (our next stop) and she was right - it was breathtaking. In fact, we took many of the suggestions Florence and Donal offered about restaurants and sights in other parts of the country and they were all great. Our bedroom and bathroom were spacious and impeccably clean. We would recommend Coatesland House and a stop in Adare to anyone traveling to Ireland!

“Amazing breakfast, big rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

Donal and Florence do an amazing breakfast here. Anything and everything! Our room was massive and a great deal. We stayed here for a wedding rather than pay loads for the expensive hotels in the area. Great decision and would certainly stay here again.
