I stayed a night in this b and b this October and found it very unwelcoming and dated. While the not ice on the door said "Cead Mile Failte",( a hundred thousand welcomes) the greeting I received consisted of "Sign this form, can you pay me now please". They diidn't take credit cards and I had to pay up front 6O euros for a single room. Then a curt "breakfast from 8 till 9.3O" . The bedroom was cold - eventhough I had told them, I would be arriving mid-afternoon, they hadn't put on the heating. While the bedroom and bathroom were clean with plenty of good coat hangers in the cupboard, the decor was 1970's - pink bathroom ware, old mira shower which took for ever to heat up and then emitted a trickle of water. The light over the bathroom mirror wasn't working. There was some water in the kettle which might have been there all Summer - otherwise one was expected to fill the aged kettle from the bathroom tap. Fortunately, I had brough my own mineral water. No bath sheet - just two bath towels one of which was old and frayed.
The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was poor - tinned grapefruit segments/fruit salad. The brown bread was not home-made.
They had a lovely garden..In summary, one is a sitting duck for shoddy service in Adare. The local hotel is constantly booked up with wedding functions etc., and the overflow has to stay elsewhere. The house is on the main busy road from Limerick to Kerry.
