“This was our SPECIAL place...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We wanted one very special place on our trip to Ireland.. this was our special place to stay. Kind of castle like, very special it was. The people that worked there were all just wonderful. We had a lovely room over looking the gardens in the front. The food was just amazing! It truly was a very special place. It wasn't a wallet buster, but you payed a little more... but it was worth what you get...

“Beautiful house with very good food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We stayed for one night during over the winter, and this place really is perfect for those dark winter nights when you want to cosy up to the fire and read a book. One abiding memory is reading with a glass of wine beside the fabulous fire! The owners are great hosts, very friendly and tremendous fun! We got a standard room, which was very adequate - lovely furnishings. The food is fabulous too, and I would concur with all the other reviewers who have raved about the food. The location is a bit out of the way, with no fabulous scenery or anywhere for nice walks. That is the only negative....which in many ways is not a negative as it enables one to curl up by the fire with a book...and completely get away from it all!!

“Fantastic”

My partner and I just returned from a night at Echo Lodge and I am already trying to plan a return, longer visit. As a self-confessed foodie, I am happy to report that the food in the Mustard Seed is excellent, with a seasonal, balanced menu, perfectly executed. The wine list is also impressive, if a little pricey, but the 'wine of the month' and the house champagne were of excellent value and quality.

This boutique country house has a wonderful ambience; it is friendly, informal, warm and inviting. The proprietors have obviously invested lots of time and energy in styling the property and it has worked - they have done a terrific job in creating a space that really does encourage you to relax and ponder the story behind the electic objet d'art. and bold furnishings.

Our bedroom, overlooking the front of the property was very nice, a lovely space for the night. We also snuck a peek at the suites in the new wing. These are really lovely, especially if you're staying for a few nights – the compromise however is that they don’t quite have the character of the rooms in original building.

Adare is very nearby and is lovely to potter about. If you're a horse enthusiast, Clonshire Equestrian centre is a stone-throws away and a great way to burn off the calories and see the local countryside.

Finally, the breakfast … and the best porridge ever. It was soooo good that I had to ask the chef for his recipe. and as I suspected, it is cooked in cream – lethal but so worth it. Next time, I’m going to add a dash of Irish Whiskey for the ultimate holiday breakfast.

Can’t wait to go back.

“Pot of Gold”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

Who needs to look for a pot of gold when you can eat out of the kettle at the Mustard Seed! We stayed 2 nights and had the most wonderful culinary treat in Ireland. Our dinners were elegant and the cuisine was a gourmet's dream. Breakfasts, lunch and tea were served with the hospitality deserving of a princess. If your looking for a wonderful Manor House with food fit for the Queen, check into the Mustard Seed.
