My husband and I were far from impressed by Kinsale but we LOVED staying at the Blue Horizon. It is about 10 minutes outside of Kinsale in Garrettstown and is a pub and B&B. We spent most of our nights hanging out with the locals in the pub at the B&B who were extremely friendly. We had a great time. The view is breathtaking and there is a nice walk along the ocean that leads right up to the B&B. The owners, Mary and Jimmy, and their daughter Alice who tended the bar were SO friendly and personable. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The only small issue we had was that the winds were very high on the first night of our stay and it was a little difficult to get to sleep. No fault of the owners, Ireland is just windy :)

No need to repeat the sentiments already expressed, a great place with fantastic views. The walk down to the edge of the rocks is very nice. We were looking for a quiet stop and were a little worried about the advertised bingo/pub nights but it turned out that our night was in between the entertainment. It was peaceful and quiet, enjoyed the views of the ocean and beach and had a great meal at the Speckled Door nearby. Stumbled upon this stop quite late in the evening as we were driving along the coast looking for a place to stay, definitely recommended.

Likes - superb location away from civilisation, set on a rise overlooking the sea, but very convenient for getting to Kinsale and Cork. The rooms are spotless and comfortable.
Dislikes - limited hot water; the breakfast was spartan, and the wooden blinds in the bedroom were hopeless at one of their main functions which is to keep the light out. Much rather put up curtains.

The Blue Horizon is a lovely B & B right on the coast outside of Kinsale. The rooms are very nice and we had a great view as well. We had a fabulous meal at the Speckled Door just a few minutes down the road and then went back to the pub at the B & B which was filled with locals and a great place to hang out. We had a wonderful breakfast the following morning. Would have loved to stay another day. Great hosts and service!
