“Best placed we stayed during our entire holiday”

My family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Glen. In fact it spoiled us because none of the other bed and breakfasts or hotels could compare. From the moment we entered this beautifully decorated home, we felt pampered. Upon on arrival we were offered coffee or tea in the sitting room which was served along with delicious ginger cake. The surroundings are lovely and we enjoyed strolling around the property. In the evening we read by the fireplace and chatted with an Irish visitor. The breakfast was delicious – the pancakes were the best! We all agreed that our only complaint was that we had to leave. If we are ever in Ireland again, the Glen will be at the top of our to-do list.

“Amazing Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2011

My wife and I stayed here in early May and wow...what an amazing B&B. YES... it's a B&B...it's a cozy, home feel. If you're looking for a hotel environment, this is not the place. But let me tell you...the house and surrounding area is so beautiful. They had a warm fire for us in the sitting room, all rooms were ensuite and spacious, and breakfast was homemade and amazing. One word of advice. It is located about 12km from Kinsale, and the drive is very winding w/ narrow roads (to be expected in Ireland). When we went there were no restaurants available near the B&B, however they will cook dinner for you upon reservation. The dinner was AMAZING, and worth every penny. I definitely recommend eating in atleast one night. You wont be dissapointed. We will be returning in a few years...without a doubt!

“Have horses, will travel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2011

After searching online for a holiday where we could bring our horses in Ireland we finally found it in The Glen Country House.
The accommodation is well worth its 5 stars. and the same goes for the horses accommodation.
With the stables overlooking the bay, fantastic manege and miles of beach to ride on at our leisure we really felt we had arrived in paradise.
The accommadation really is superb, the breakfasts will also set you up for the day in true Irish style.
We had 5 nights here with our horses and felt we really got value for money.

“Great breakfast but IMO overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

I actually stayed in this B&B prior to 2009.

This is a working farm, the owners have chores to do, however, kids can help with the eggs - very nice. The breakfast is really good, and served in a very nice room. The grounds are quiet, the dogs friendly, and there was a tree swing our kids enjoyed. The lounge is nicely decorated. Our adjoing rooms met our needs but were a little on the cramped side. The beach is not easy to access, it is a walk down the lane and across a typically narrow Irish road. Then you have to find a good spot to camber down the bank. The beach near here is only accessible when the tide is out, so it's not a typical sand beach, but if you are experienced tide flat folks then you're fine. Not sure what I expected after reading the TripAdvisor reviews prior to our stay, but in hindsight I think the price was too high.

If you like quiet and near solitude then you'll like it. The owners are nice and helpful, just not overly engaging since they are busy with family and farm.

“Amazing accommodation and breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

My husband and another couple stayed in the lovely Glen Country House. The house was beautiful and clean. Diana was welcoming but not intrusive. The breakfast was the best! My husband loved the home-made breads, and my friend loved the coffee and made-to-order omelet.. Diana had purchased gluten-free scones at a local farmer's market for me. The attention to detail was fabulous. If I am fortunate enough to visit Cork County again, I will stay at the Glen County House!
